A lover of science and experiments, Curtis Baute, from his own experience, decided to prove that the oxygen that plants produce in a confined space is quite enough for a person to live normally. Canadian blogger Curtis Baute tried to live in a closed greenhouse alone with hundreds of plants for three days. The science lover announced the preparation for the experiment on his Youtube channel.
Preparation for the project took about a year.
For the experiment, Baute planted several dozen plants in the greenhouse in advance: pumpkin, sunflower, corn, potatoes. He hoped that the oxygen that they would produce would be enough for him to breathe in a confined space for three days without an influx of air from outside.
With this experiment, Baute wanted to encourage everyone living on the planet to look for ways to save it. In addition, he set out to show his subscribers how "the environment works at a deeper level."

After the experimenter settled in the greenhouse, he began to keep a diary on his Instagram page. He took measurements of the level of carbon dioxide and oxygen and realized that he was breathing much more intensively than plants emit oxygen.
After 15 hours, the researcher had to leave the greenhouse, because the level of carbon dioxide in it skyrocketed, and the oxygen that the plants gave off was clearly not enough to breathe properly.
“I could probably hold out for three days. But my goal is not just to survive. My goal is to finish the project without turning blue, getting brain damage or heatstroke or disfiguring the body,”said Baute.
Be that as it may, the author of the experiment is very pleased and considers it successful.
