The South Korean military has placed robotic machine-gun points, which are endowed with their own "intelligence", on a significant section of the border (or rather, the demarcation line) with North Korea.
Guess who designed the machine gun robots? A subsidiary of Samsung, Samsung Techwin. The model of the machine gunner was named T-800 SGR-1, and now these robots are serving at the border in normal mode. Border guards are now chilled out with beer sitting in air-conditioned rooms behind displays fed by information from robotic sensors.
The cost of one copy is 200 thousand dollars, the robots work in autonomous mode until a potential enemy is detected. The decision to fire to kill is made by the very same border guards who are on guard at the headquarters behind the displays. The robots are equipped with radar, night vision devices, cameras, and audio-video equipment. Without leaving the place, the border guards can now poison jokes to talk to violators without putting themselves in danger.
The weapons on the robot are solid - 5.5mm machine guns and 40mm automatic grenade launchers.
Interestingly, the officials are still silent about the number of robots. It is understandable, after all, it is a state secret. It is only known that robots are placed along a 300-kilometer perimeter. If the tests go well, they will continue to serve.
“Human soldiers may feel tired or sleepy without fully concentrating on the task of guarding the border. But robots guard the demarcation line around the clock, without feeling tired. They also have no fear of attackers in the front line,”says Huh Kwang-hak (I suggest translating the name yourself), a spokesman for Samsung Techwin.
He also stated that robots cannot make an independent decision on firing, for this they need human permission. The spokesman also said that "SGR-1 can and will prevent wars."
