107 years ago, on January 31, 1911, in the small town of Strumica (now located in Macedonia) Vangelia Pandeva Dimitrova (married to Gushterov) was born, or simply Vanga - the most famous clairvoyant of the 20th century. She was born so weak that her parents did not give her a name for two months - they thought that the girl would not survive.
A difficult fate, unusual abilities, worldwide popularity, crowds of visitors have created a lot of legends around her, and now it is difficult to understand where is truth and where is fiction.
With the outbreak of World War I, Vanga's father was mobilized into the Bulgarian army. The mother died when the girl was four years old. The child grew up in a neighbor's house. Returning after the war, the widowed father remarried.
Once, when 12-year-old Vanga was walking in the field, a terrible storm arose, the wind lifted her and carried her aside. When the girl was found, she was terribly frightened, and her eyes were covered with sand. Eyesight began to fade, treatment did not help, and the parents did not have money for the operation. Four years after this incident, her vision completely disappeared, and she was sent to a home for the blind, where she stayed for three years. Her unusual abilities began to manifest themselves gradually, and intensified during the Second World War.
With absolute accuracy, Wanga told the peasants where to find the lost cattle, and they found it in the specified place. The fame of Vanga's clairvoyance quickly spread throughout the neighborhood, and crowds of people began to flock to her yard. Soon she became famous as a good healer of various diseases. She treated mainly with medicinal herbs. By the way, Vanga lived most of her life in the Bulgarian city of Petrich. People began to turn to her for advice in a variety of situations. She helped everyone. This is how the legend of Vanga was born.
The Bulgarian scientist Georgy Lozanov watched Vanga for over 25 years and noted over 7000 predictions that came true. He came to the conclusion that the percentage of coincidences is much higher than random and reaches about 80%.
They say that among the "hits" - the story of the prediction of the defeat of Hitler. She said to his face: “Leave Russia alone! You will lose!”, And to confirm the strength of her predictions, she sent his guards to the house on another street where the mare gave birth, and described in detail what the newly born foal would look like. Everything coincided exactly, and the Fuhrer left Wang in a rage.

Six months before Stalin's death, she allegedly predicted his death, for which she went to prison, but was released after the forecast came true. She predicted the assassination attempt on John F. Kennedy in 1963, and in 1968 - the events of the "Prague Spring" in Czechoslovakia, the assassination of Robert Kennedy and Nixon's victory in the US elections.
Her abilities were recognized by the Bulgarian government - since 1967, Vanga was registered as a civil servant and received a salary. For 55 years of its activity, more than 1 million people have visited it. At her own expense, Vanga built the chapel of St. Paraskeva. But her relationship with the church was strained. Representatives of the Orthodox Church believe that she was a pagan, as she recognized reincarnation. Nevertheless, Vanga observed all church fasts and holidays and was very religious. Wang died on August 11, 1996. In 2008, a museum was opened in her house in Petrich.
Shortly before her death, Wanga reported that the Earth was visited by alien ships from the planet that sounds like "Vamfim", "the third in a row from planet Earth", and another civilization is preparing a big event; the meeting with this civilization will take place in 200 years.
Meanwhile, a number of researchers believe that Wanga is an ordinary business project.

All of them willingly collected preliminary information for Vanga: where the person came from, why, what he hopes for. And Wanga then laid out this information to clients as if she saw them herself. They helped with the dossier on clients and special services, under whose cover the state brand worked. The same Bekhtereva, who went to Vanga, said that it was possible to get an appointment only with the permission of the special services."
Vanga's name is often mentioned in the pages of the yellow press. Vanga is credited with various predictions, which often contradict each other. There are no documented opinions that Wanga predicted the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, the victory of Boris Yeltsin in the 1996 presidential elections, the September 11 attacks in the United States, as well as the victory of Veselin Topalov at the World Chess Championship.
At the beginning of 1993, Vanga seemed to announce that the USSR would revive in the first quarter of the 21st century and Bulgaria would be part of it. And in Russia many new people will be born who will be able to change the world. In 1994, Wanga allegedly predicted: “At the beginning of the XXI century, humanity will get rid of cancer. The day will come, and cancer will be chained in "iron chains". She also believed that a cure for old age would be invented. It will be made from the hormones of a horse, a dog and a turtle: "The horse is strong, the dog is hardy, and the turtle lives long."
At the same time, people who knew Wang personally say that most of these messages are myths. Numerous cases are known when what is attributed to Vanga did not actually come true. For example, 2010 is the beginning of the World War with the use of first nuclear and then chemical weapons.
