In the American city of Worcester, Ohio, the couple had been married for 64 years and died on the same day. This is reported by the Daily Mail.
Bill Shafrat, 88, died in a nursing home on December 25, 2019, at approximately seven a.m. local time. His wife Nancy, who was lying on the next bed, died four hours later.
“For the last weeks he could not get out of bed. Then we moved his bed and the bed with Nancy to the center of the room, - says Pat Cornelius, the Shafrat's niece. "They literally spent their last weeks hand in hand."
Relatives noted that the Shafratov had no children. But since Bill had 12 siblings, he had many nephews and nieces. Bill and Nancy's funeral took place on January 2 at the Virgin Mary Catholic Church, where they got married.
In December 2019, it was reported that a couple from the American city of Jackson, Michigan, had been married for 70 years and died 20 minutes apart in adjacent beds in the same hospice. Their funeral took place on December 17 in Mason, Michigan.
