Skin temperature can be a good indicator of romantic feelings. This is the conclusion reached by Spanish scientists from the University of Granada.
The experiments, led by Professor Francisco Tornay, involved 60 volunteers. They were divided into two groups. One was made up of students in a state of love. The other included those who had no romantic feelings for anyone.
All volunteers were photographed in infrared rays. This was done using a thermal imager - a device that generates images, painted in different tones, corresponding to a particular temperature of the body surface.
Participants in the experiment took turns dipping their hands in ice water. After that, the lovers were shown photos of their romantic partners, and not the lovers - photos of friends.
It turned out that lovers' hands warmed up faster than non-lovers. The accelerated warming of the lovers was accompanied by an increase in the temperature of the cheeks, forehead and nose. It increased by an average of 2 degrees. This is what the thermal imager recorded.

The senses are tested with ice water
Scientists explain the phenomenon by the reaction of the autonomic nervous system - specifically the sympathetic and parasympathetic, which are under the control of the cerebral cortex and hypothalamic centers. Romantic feelings, partially nesting here, "include" the peripheral parts - the skin and genitals. They respond with a rise in temperature. And in fact - excitement. The deeper the feelings, the more obvious the reaction.

During the experiment, subjects - 30 women and 30 men - were shown porn on TV. And they noticed exactly how long they would get excited. It turned out that men peaked in an average of 665 seconds, and women in 743 seconds.
According to the researchers, the difference of 78 seconds is not statistically significant. And we can assume that representatives of both sexes need equal time for sexual arousal.

Doctors emphasize: the measurements were very accurate, since the heating was recorded by thermal imaging cameras directed below the belt.
