British scientists report the theft of William Shakespeare's skull from his own grave. This information is confirmed by research conducted by scientists, according to the BBC.

Unknown vandals stole the skull of the English writer William Shakespeare, which was found out by British scientists who conducted research on the grave of the writer. Initially, the version about the theft of Shakespeare's skull appeared in the century before last, in 1879, then it was reported that a group of unknown persons stole a part of the body of the great writer in 1794.

The research was carried out using GPR scanning of Shakespeare's burial site with the permission of representatives of the Trinity Church, located in Stratford. The integrity of the burial was not violated, however, Shakespeare's grave has minor damage to the head, which gives rise to an opinion about the abduction of the skull. According to the head of the experiment, Kevin Colls, who works at the University of Staffordshire, there is no information about the reason for the abduction of Shakespeare's skull, just as there is no information about the alleged perpetrators and the location of the writer's body.

By the way, the study was conducted in honor of the 400th anniversary of the death of the writer.
