The castle was built on the site of a wooden port in 1679. However, mystical phenomena began to occur 26 years earlier: in 1653, as the chronicle notes, a mysterious movement of the Bible from place to place was noticed here.
In 1860, the inhabitants of the castle first saw a ghost - a woman in a gray hood. For twenty, or even more years, she wandered through the rooms, instilling fear in people.
In the same castle there is another ghost - the ghost of Governor van Nordt, who died in a very mystical way - at the age of 48 (in 1728) he died of a heart attack during the execution of four soldiers convicted of desertion. Already in the 20th century, soldiers claimed to have seen him. One evening in July 1947, the sentries noticed a figure on the castle wall, the vague outline of which clearly resembled a man more than two meters in height.

The history of the cemetery begins in 1839, when it was decided to create seven large cemeteries around London - there were not enough places for burial in the city. Since then, the site has become a London landmark, and not only because of the Gothic splendor of the statues, crypts and crosses. Incidents that disturb the public are not uncommon here.

In 1725, the Irish politician William Connolly built a hunting lodge on the site of the Druid sanctuary, using the stones of the sanctuary to build it. The opinion quickly spread among local residents that the hapless politician angered the devil with this act - a few days after the construction, an unexpected strong storm destroyed the structure.
Over time, the house was chosen by aristocrats - members of the Hellfire Club. What they were doing there is unknown, but there were bad rumors about them.
It was said that they sacrificed animals there, held black masses, drank indecently and played cards, tapping under the table with their hooves, which they had instead of feet.

The lighthouse was built in 1874 and is shrouded in eerie history. It is believed that the souls of a family that died during construction live here - presumably, the man and his daughters were drowned somewhere near the lighthouse.

Legends circulated that Prince Vlad III Tepes, who became the prototype of Count Dracula, often spent the night in the Bran castle during his campaigns, and the area around was his favorite hunting ground.
But the building got the name "Dracula's castle" only in the XX century, after the phenomenal success of Bram Stoker's Gothic novel "Dracula", when fans of the story of a terrible vampire went in search of the legendary castle and came to the conclusion that Bran Palace is the prototype of the monster's refuge.

Moosham Castle is often called the castle of witches. It was the site of countless executions of women convicted of witchcraft throughout the Middle Ages.

The house is associated with the name of the inventor of the famous rifle, Oliver Winchester, but has little to do with him. It belonged to Sarah Winchester, the widow of Oliver's son, William, who died quite early. After her husband's death, Sarah visited a medium in Boston who "communicated with the spirit of her late husband." The spirit of the deceased allegedly reported that the misadventures of Sarah (the death of her only daughter shortly after birth, the relatively early death of William) are connected with the fact that the family bears the curse of those who died from the rifle created by his father.

In 1884, construction began on a house in San Jose, which lasted 38 years while the woman was alive. There are 160 rooms in the building, which successfully demonstrate all the madness of the hostess - there are stairs leading to the ceiling, doors in the middle of the wall, and decor in the form of cobwebs. This was done in order to confuse as much as possible the spirits that will come for the soul of Mrs. Winchester. There are many secret windows and doors, in many rooms there are 13 windows, and there are 13 steps on all staircases. Since the building was opened to tourists, they talk about footsteps being heard here at night, lights moving and doors slamming.
