In the Philippines, three brothers are accused of killing their own mother. According to investigators, young men killed a 56-year-old woman, and then dismembered her corpse and ate some parts of her body. The incident took place in the municipality of Ampatuan.
The neighbors of the family reported that they heard some noise from the house where a woman named Musala Amil and her three sons lived, the oldest of whom was 35 years old, and the youngest - 18. A few days later, a disfigured corpse of a woman was found there in a pool of blood.
At first, her sons denied all charges against them. Then they explained that they wanted to relieve the mother of the disease, which, in their opinion, struck her after an evil spirit entered her. The police have determined that the ritual murder took place last week.
Now the police are trying to find out if the members of this family suffered from mental illness. It is not reported whether the young people were under the influence of any substances when they committed the murder. Ampatuan police chief Ronald DeLeon said the suspects would be tested for drugs. It is known that previously they had no problems with criminal legislation.
According to the local publication PhilStar.com, the mother's body was dismembered by the sons with a machete. So far, not much is known about the suspects themselves: in particular, it is reported that they are representatives of the local Moro people professing Islam. However, Islam prohibits such prejudices and superstitions concerning evil spirits.
Anwar Emblava, a representative of the local government of the nearest city, said that among the inhabitants there is a legend about the ancient clan of ghouls. And the family of the murdered woman belongs to him, according to local residents. “This is an ancient legend about a curse. The people believe that these three belong to the cursed family, - said Emblava. "But I, as a Muslim, consider it all prejudice and do not believe in it." However, such beliefs seem to be very popular among the locals.
According to the Daily Mail, in 2009, the settlement where this brutal murder took place had already attracted the attention of law enforcement officers. Then in this place there was a mass murder of 58 people.
