A group of Dutch scientists have created a device with which you can understand people's thoughts at a distance. A device based on a tomograph using a computer "decodes" a person's thoughts.
Neurophysiologists at Maastricht University under the leadership of Bettina Sorger were able to differentiate 27 levels of brain activity and correlate each with a specific symbol - one of the 26 letters of the Latin alphabet or a space, and then a computer comes into play, which “translates” a person's thoughts into speech. However, the active participation of the patient is also required for “decoding”.
Bettina Sorger said that the principle of operation of the mind reading device is based on deciphering part of the information that the brain neurons carry - this is recorded by the tomograph by the nature of the changes in the blood flow that occur when certain parts of the human brain are turned on and off, so the screen of the tomograph shows what the person thinks.
“We asked the volunteer to mentally perform one of three tasks - imagine that he was drawing, counting a number, and reading poetry to himself. And we clearly record this”.
