The situation is really threatening. Now every fifth species of the planet's fauna is threatened with extinction. By the end of the century, if nothing is done now, half of the species could be under threat of extinction.

Endangered animals such as tigers and rhinos are reported in newspapers from time to time. However, almost no attention is paid to the disappearance of other species, and their overwhelming majority. “Wealthy Western countries are depleting the planet's resources and destroying its ecosystems at an unprecedented rate,” says biologist Paul Ehrlich of Stanford University. “We want to build a highway across the Serengeti (a 15,000 square kilometer national park in Tanzania) to mine more rare earths for our cell phones. We fish all the fish in the sea, destroy coral reefs and fill the atmosphere with carbon dioxide. We launched a mechanism of great destruction. The question is: how do we stop it now?"
The Vatican conference was organized by the Catholic Church. She pays, at the insistence of Pope Francis, great attention to this issue.
