On February 22-23, 2014, members of the Kosmopoisk association examined the Penza Meyerhold House in order to find out how true the reports received from the employees about the appearance of a ghost in the building and to determine the nature of the anomalous phenomena occurring in it correspond to the truth.

The Center for theatrical Arts is located in the manor house where Meyerhold lived from 1881 to 1895. It was opened in 1984, and before that there was a communal apartment in the building for a long time.

The Center is currently creating experimental performances based on the legacy of Meyerhold. In addition, the building houses a museum. It should be noted that the origin of many of the items that make up the exhibition is not known exactly. Only a few items are reliably known to belong to the director.

One of the former employees of the museum said that unusual phenomena have been observed in the building for a long time. In rooms where no one was, footsteps and slamming of doors were heard. There are cases when several people heard sounds at the same time. An employee who wished to remain anonymous said that she once felt the presence of a certain "alien will": something prevented her from leaving the premises until she played the piano.

There are also reports of the appearance of "shadows" - figures visible with peripheral vision. The staff who spoke about it believe that these are the ghosts of members of the Meyerhold family - his father and brother, who, according to an unconfirmed legend, hanged himself in the basement of the building. A case is also described when an employee with peripheral vision saw in the courtyard the ghost of Vsevolod Meyerhold himself, and this was no longer a shadow silhouette, but a figure with quite distinguishable details.

A number of anomalous events are associated with the Meyerhold monument, which stands in the courtyard. ON THE. Kugel, director of the Center for Performing Arts, said that the builders who were restoring the building were injured during the work if they dared to joke about the monument, for example, dressed it in work clothes.

Shortly before the unveiling of the monument, one of the cars driving to this event got into a car accident, in which there were victims. Meyerhold's granddaughter, according to N. A. Kugel, later expressed confidence that the cause of this event was her grandfather.

An important feature of all the evidence collected by the researchers is the fact that the earliest of them refer to events that took place about eight years ago. During this time, memories and their interpretations by eyewitnesses could be distorted. In order to verify the reliability of reports of anomalous phenomena, it was decided to conduct a night watch in the building.

Studies of electromagnetic radiation, temperature, infrasound and infrared radiation were carried out with almost partial power outage of the museum and disconnection of mobile phones. As a result, several areas were found in which the magnetic field exceeds the background level. There is a hypothesis that a magnetic field of a certain intensity and frequency can affect the brain, causing "vision".

In addition, the attention of researchers was attracted by a writing desk located in one of the premises of the museum. An increased level of microwave radiation was recorded near it.

Its source was not determined precisely, since it was not possible to move the table to check whether the radiation was associated with it or with the place where it is located. Interestingly, earlier researchers have repeatedly discovered similar sources of microwave radiation when studying cases of poltergeist.

On the evening of February 22, one of the participants in the experiment himself witnessed the appearance of a ghost. He described a human shadow that moved around the room towards the room where the decorations were stored, and then towards the aforementioned table. The surveillance camera did not record any moving objects.

The survey of the building did not reveal any anomalies in the intensity or structure of the geophysical fields. However, the increased radiation levels noted in several areas could well be the reason that employees see "ghosts." In this case, the increased radiation itself may have a completely non-anomalous, everyday origin.

The images that eyewitnesses see are not necessarily associated with the Meyerhold family. Since most of the evidence for anomalous phenomena in the building is subjective, there may be an impact of familiar ghost stories on the interpretation of one's own feelings. To establish unambiguously what is the objective nature of the anomalous phenomena occurring in the building, further research is required.
