Employees of Tomsk State University discovered a colossal amount of bones of fossil animals that lived a hundred million years ago in the territory where the basin of the Bolshoy Kemchug River is now located, in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. Among the remains of animals that lived in the Early Cretaceous period are the bones of ancient turtles and crocodiles, as well as, possibly, an unknown species of dinosaur. The relevant news was spread by the TASS news agency, referring to Stepan Ivantsov, a representative of the laboratory of continental ecosystems of the Mesozoic and Cenozoic of TSU.
“At the end of summer, we found the bones of about four dozen animals from the Mesozoic - finds of this magnitude are extremely rare. We obtained well-preserved bones of stegosaurs, sauropods, and also theropods. In addition, a large amount of material on turtles and crocodiles was found,”Ivantsov says.
In addition, we can talk about the discovery of a completely new species of ancient creatures, probably related to dinosaurs. It is too early to draw conclusions, as Ivantsov notes, but judging by the primary analysis of bones, such a possibility cannot be ruled out.
