Today, some of the symptoms that occur when meeting ghosts are already known. First of all, these are emotional and psychological disorders - from unpleasant foreboding to panic horror; sensations of discomfort, anxiety, depression are noted. This may be followed by functional disorders in the form of headache, fatigue, drowsiness, nausea, fainting.
There are also skin diseases, tumors, changes in blood composition, temporary paralysis and seizures, fever accompanied by high fever, partial or complete loss of memory.
Fortunately, such consequences are rare, although in any case, seeing a phantom leaves an indelible mark in the soul of an eyewitness. Both people and animals are usually painful to perceive the phenomenon of ghosts, especially if it is the ghostly essence of a living person. However, there are also more serious complications.
In October 1982, a 58-year-old woman from the city of Kirovo-Chepetsk, while picking mushrooms, met a ghost in the forest in the guise of her brother, who died a year ago, with a box and a stick in her hands. At first, she only asked the mushroom picker if the picking was good. He slowly, as if reluctantly, straightened up, threw back his hood, and the woman froze in horror when she recognized her deceased brother. But she soon came to her senses and continued the dialogue.
It lasted about 5 minutes, after which the phantom told her: "I have to go, go away, don't look back." But the woman still looked around and saw a bundle of pinkish rays suddenly burst out of the ghost. The woman involuntarily closed her eyes as a blinding ray slid across her face. Then she opened her eyes again and saw only a small cloud that glowed faintly against the background of the forest.
After that, for two days she suffered from headaches, the flashes of light in her eyes did not let her sleep. Then everything passed, the excitement and fear subsided. Most likely, this could have been avoided if the woman had not been so curious and heeded the ghost's advice.
And here is the story of another woman who happened in Ireland. In the evening she prayed on her knees in bed. And suddenly I felt the touch of someone's hands on the shoulders. Turning around, she saw the pale, barely discernible ghost of the priest standing over her. A week later, she became seriously and permanently ill.

In some cases, traces of the influence of a ghost remain on the human body. So, in one of the restless houses in England, built on the site of a former monastery, a monk was seen more than once, claiming that his name was Ignatius and that he died 800 years ago. A priest lived in that house with his wife, who often saw this ghost and once even entered into a conversation with him. One evening, the wife was sleeping in the guest room.
At midnight, she woke up feeling as if something was preventing her from breathing, then she saw a vague black figure bending over her, clutching her throat with knotted hands. And suddenly the woman recognized in the figure the one with whom she had already met more than once. The unhappy woman managed to escape, and she rushed headlong into her husband's room. At first, he thought that his wife was simply having a nightmare, but when he looked at her throat, he found bruises and bruises.
It happens that the touch of a ghost's hand to a person's body causes a skin burn. In the spring of 1990, the ghost of a nurse who had died in a car accident began to be seen at a hospital in the city of Grootfontein in Namibia. And one of her living colleagues found a small burn on her neck, which had arisen exactly in the place that the ghost touched. In other cases, it was reported that the skin of people with such a touch wrinkled like a baked apple.
Sometimes involuntary actions of an eyewitness towards a ghost can be extremely dangerous. Thus, it is attested that in the middle of the 19th century, in one of the areas of East Anglia, a driver ran into a ghostly phantom, popularly called a "black dog", as a result of which both the owner and his carriage were burned to the ground. There, a certain farmer hit the same dog in the eyes that were burning in the dark. The glow disappeared, but the attacker was subsequently paralyzed and he was forever speechless.
And in the Tower, around 1800, a sentry met a ghost in the form of a bear standing on its hind legs. He pierced the monster with a bayonet, but only fell into the void. The daredevil eventually ended up in the hospital unconscious, came to his senses for a while, told about what had happened, then fell into a coma and died a few days later.
And all the stories about how certain skeptics, denying the existence of ghosts, went to meet him, just in case, taking a weapon with them, are by no means fictional. Oftentimes, the ghost shooting, fortunately, did not harm the unwary experimenters. But it also happened that they were then found in a rather deplorable state. Perhaps ghosts are sometimes punished for being frivolous about them.
It must be said that in the beliefs of almost all peoples there are warnings about the dangers of encountering ghosts. For example, in the early 1980s, sociology professor Charles Emmons from the United States interviewed 3,500 Chinese people about their relationship to otherworldly beings.
It turned out that half of the respondents believed in them, and 176 eyewitnesses told about their personal meetings with uninvited “guests”. The Chinese still consider ghosts to be very dangerous and are convinced that such meetings can cause illness, and even death.
