The ghostly guests of the afterlife

Trying to give an explanation for the nightly wandering of the ghost in the department premises, the watchman Shmul philosophically remarked:

- Well, since she's treading here every evening, then it must be so. This means that the earth does not accept it …

Police archives around the world have reported ghosts interfering with people's lives and warning them against taking fatal steps, such as suicide. In Austria, the stories of portrait painter Joseph Aigner are widely known about his meeting with the ghost of a monk who twice prevented him from committing suicide.

As a gifted artist, D. Aigner was already successful in his youth, but he probably had some mental problems. From time to time irrational fits of despair rolled over the artist. The idea of suicide turned into a manic idea. The artist had no strength to overcome himself, to abandon the horrifying thought that pushed him to death.

When he turned 18, he made his first attempt to commit suicide. Aigner hanged himself from the rafters of the attic of his parents' house in Vienna. At the same moment, when he knocked the stool out from under his feet, the ghost of a Capuchin monk appeared before him. His figure, according to Aigner, seemed to have grown instantly from the floor of the attic. Sliding his hooked finger into the loop that tightened on the artist's throat, the monk released the pressure of the loop on his neck. And he made a short fiery speech, during which he somehow convinced the young man that life is worth living.

The monk helped Joseph Aigner free from the noose around his throat, and then disappeared from the attic, melting into thin air.

Four years later, Aigner again seized a manic idea of suicide, again attempted to die. And again a Capuchin monk suddenly appeared before him. As in the previous time, he had a soul-saving conversation with the artist - psychological treatment, dissuaded him to say goodbye to life ahead of time … And then he disappeared from his eyes again …

Joseph Aigner became a future revolutionary and rebel. Exactly 8 years after his second meeting with the mysterious monk Aigner was arrested and sentenced to death, but he was suddenly pardoned shortly before his execution. The same Capuchin monk came to the city court and for a long time talked with judicial officials. The rebel Aigner committed such grave crimes that, according to all articles of the law, the inevitable death penalty awaited him. We do not know how the mysterious monk managed to persuade the judges to abolish the death sentence handed down to D. Aigner. It remains only to assume: the ghost of the monk had a kind of hypnotic effect on the judges, to put it simply - devilishly darkened them. And the verdict was canceled.

From the verbal descriptions made by the judges with whom the monk talked, Aigner immediately recognized the Capuchin monk, who had twice kept him from committing suicide … Struck by the next saving intervention of the ghostly monk in his life, the artist D. Aigner drew his portrait from memory.

1889 - the artist turns 68 years old. And he did finally realize his manic idea and committed suicide by firing a bullet from a revolver in his forehead. Shrouded in a gloom of mystery, whether the ghost of a Capuchin monk appeared to him a moment before his finally suicide. But something else is known for certain.

The funeral service over the body of the suicide was conducted by the same monk who had appeared out of nowhere. The relatives and acquaintances of the deceased, who were present at the service, identified the monk by the portrait painted by Joseph Aigner many years ago …

Let's just conditionally call the mysterious monk "a ghost warning against death."

The phenomenon of "death warnings" is one of the rarest phenomena in the world of ghosts, but still sometimes it manifests itself. Here is another impressive example of this.

At the end of the 19th century, the British ambassador in Paris, Lord Daph-Ferin, spent his next vacation at home - in the British Isles. He settled away from the noise of the city in the country house of his friend in Ireland.

One night, the lord suddenly woke up with the sensation that someone had pushed him sharply in the side. Raising himself up in bed, he looked around. There was no one in the room.

Then the lord got up and looked out the window. In the moonlight, he saw on the lawn in front of the house a man walking very slowly, dragging on his back what looked like a coffin from afar. The burden, apparently, was heavy, because the man was very bent under her weight and moved his legs with considerable effort.

Lord Dufferin quickly ran down the stairs, flung open the doors leading out of the house onto the lawn, and shouted in a loud voice:

- What are you here, near someone else's house, took ?!

The man turned and looked out from under his burden, which turned out to be just the same coffin. The lord shuddered at the sight of his face, old, ugly and wrinkled.

In answer to the question asked, an ugly-looking old man with a coffin on his back suddenly went straight to Lord Dufferin. To the latter's great amazement, he quickly passed through the lord, as if his body consisted of air and not of bones and flesh. And then disappeared instantly.

The next morning the lord told the owner of the house at breakfast about this wildest, as he put it, incident. The owner of the house only threw up his hands in bewilderment. He didn't know how to explain what had happened.

Exactly one year has passed … And somehow the British Ambassador to France, Lord Dufferin, arrived at the next international diplomatic reception at the Paris "Grand Hotel". When the lord and his personal secretary approached the elevator, Dufferin suddenly changed his face, froze in place and categorically refused to go inside the elevator.

Subsequently, he here, at a diplomatic reception, publicly stated:

- The elevator operator was none other than the same ugly wrinkled old man whom I saw carrying a coffin in my friend's Irish estate exactly a year ago! …

The elevator began to go up without the lord and his personal secretary. Meanwhile, the lord went to the manager of the "Grand Hotel" to inquire about the identity of the ugly old man.

When the elevator went up to the 5th floor, the rope that held it back burst. With a terrible crash, the elevator crashed to the bottom of the shaft, and everyone in it perished.

This story was widely covered in the French, then in the English media. The circumstances of the incident were studied even by members of the British Scientific Physical Society. The most mysterious thing here was that the ugly, wrinkled old man was not on the staff of the hotel. None of the employees of the "Grand Hotel" knew his name and surname, and also never saw the old man. It was impossible to explain where he came from and how the unknown old man suddenly temporarily turned into a lifter, dressed in all lifter's uniform, and - most importantly! - why weren't his body found among the bodies of other people who died in the elevator that fell down?

On February 18, 2000, Moskovsky Komsomolets published a huge article about Grigory Rasputin. And it began like this: “There are sphinx people in history. No matter how you write about them, or study the path of life, the mystery still remains. Grigory Rasputin is one of them. To this day, in his native Rasputin village, little things are kept, to which Rasputin had a hand and which, according to local residents, have miraculous powers. In the St. Petersburg apartment of Grigory Efimovich on Gorokhovaya, on the contrary, evil spirits play pranks ….

This once famous apartment at 64 Gorokhovaya, paid personally by Her Majesty, was at one time a real "public reception". Every day almost 400 people came here, asking for Rasputin. The "elder" lived here from 1914 to 1916 …

“In Soviet times,” says the newspaper article, “apartment No. 20, located on the third floor, attracted the attention of foreign tourists. That is why the house and the front door were maintained in good condition at the expense of the state. Now the once majestic and sinister building looks like a plucked parrot."

Before the journalists, the authors of the article, the door to apartment 20 was not opened. But in a crack after a chain they said that the former apartments of the "elder" now have three owners, that is, they have been turned into a vulgar Soviet communal apartment. The conversation also revealed something else. For journalists and simply curious, the inhabitants of the former Rasputin apartment have not opened the door for a long time. They are tired of telling how at times a bearded haze sways in the long corridor at dusk. As in a large room a strange stupor attacks a person, and it seems to them that someone is looking at them from the upper right corner. After all, how literally every morning you have to wipe someone's wet marks that appear on the floor in the middle of the night with a rag …

Somehow some incomprehensible sectarians got into the habit of visiting the house of the "elder". Many times they arranged chants in the courtyard. They called the apartments of the house, offering to cleanse this devilish place of filth. Soon something amazing happened, out of the ordinary. There are many witnesses to the incident.

One evening, when the "white brothers" were praying earnestly under the windows of Rasputin's apartment, a tall monk with a heavy gold cross on his chest came up to them. The sectarians did not pay any attention to him, without ceasing to go about their business.

- What? You do not recognize, you sons of bitches ?! - the monk's thunderous roar came to the sectarians.

They turned to the monk who had shouted at them, and together they began to scream in horror. Before them stood Grigory Rasputin in all his glory. The ghost was opaque, "dense". Outwardly, he looked like a living person. With screams of horror, the sectarians rushed away from the Rasputin house, and the ghost of the "elder" immediately melted into the air …

Another "restless ghost" is considered, imagine, almost one of the attractions of the city of Chicago (America). Relatively few people met him face to face, but many local residents know about the existence of a ghostly "girl in a white dress". Local newspapers often write about her.

1931 - One girl, returning to her home from a party, died on Archer Avenue in Chicago, hit by the wheels of a car rushing down the street. She was buried in the Resurrection Cemetery, which is located, among other things, on the same Archer Avenue. The body was laid in the coffin in the same white dress and the same shoes that the girl had on the last day of her life.

Many years passed … And suddenly strange messages from drivers of cars of various brands began to arrive in local newspapers. The chauffeur was assured that they noticed a pretty girl in an old-fashioned white dress driving late evenings or at night on Archer Avenue. She stands on the side of the road and tries to stop a car passing by her.

The drivers, who were going anywhere on their own business alone, were not averse to giving a lift to a pretty girl, but along the way and entertain themselves with a conversation with her. As soon as the car stopped next to the girl, she quickly jumped into her and with tears in her eyes begged to be taken home as soon as possible. In the future, she did not utter a single word in response to the driver's persistent inquiries. When the car reached the Resurrection cemetery, the girl asked the driver to stop.

The most surprising thing in the messages of the drivers who drove the girl to the cemetery was their mention of the manner in which the girl got out of the stopped car. She disappeared from the salon without opening the car door! It was this detail of the meeting with her that prompted the drivers to turn to the newspapers.

On a December evening in 1977, a man was driving past the Resurrection Cemetery in his car. Purely by chance, he saw a girl in a white dress, standing in a dejected pose outside the cemetery gates. The man thought that she had been locked up by accident - that she had not managed to leave the cemetery before the cemetery; the watchmen hung a lock on the gate. Nothing else, of course, could have entered the man's head. And he stopped his car near the nearest pay phone and called the police.

When a police squad arrived at the cemetery gates, they did not find a girl in a white dress behind them. But he discovered something else, very, very strange. The police saw that the bars of the iron fence near the gate were slightly curved outward. You had to have a truly monstrous inhuman physical strength to bend these thick metal rods like this …
