Police officer Lorena Lindgvist from the small Argentine town of Posados walked to work early in the morning. Near the bus stop in a drainage ditch, she noticed a large cluster of stray cats.
It seemed to the woman that there was someone else besides animals at the bottom. She decided to check and went down into the pit. Lorena was very surprised to see a one-year-old baby with eight cats on its body.
The boy was completely unkempt and exhausted. Lorena took the child in her arms, pulled him out of the ditch and carried him to the station. Then, with the help of the residents of the district, she tried to inquire about his parents, but their search did not give a positive result.
The woman washed, dressed and fed the foundling. Then the boy was examined by doctors who did not find any injuries or injuries in him. According to Lorena herself, it was the cats that saved the child. They warmed him on cold spring nights, and perhaps brought some food.
This, as Lorena says, was evidenced by the "strange" demeanor of the animals, they behaved restlessly, huddled together on the child's body.
The boy's father turned out to be a homeless unemployed person who said that he had not seen the child for three days, and maybe more. He came to the hospital for his youngest son five days after the incident, accompanied by five more children. He insisted that the boy be returned to him.
According to Argentine law, the police have no right to deprive parental rights if there are no signs of physical abuse on the body, so the child was returned to the father, writes the newspaper Territoriodigital.
