… This divine event takes place annually during the Taurus full moon (which is often called the May Full Moon) … during it, the blessing of God himself, transmitted through Buddha and His Brother Christ, descends on the Earth (in accordance with the measure of human need).

… In one small Tibetan valley deep in the Himalayas. It is assumed that this is where the earthly ceremony of blessing takes place, and there, making a pilgrimage to the light, many people rush from this valley and surrounding areas. There, during the full moon, a solemn ritual is performed, which can be clearly seen and heard, like any ceremonial in any of our large cathedrals.

One extremely interesting feature related to this Festival and the circumstances of its celebration is that many Orthodox Christians, with disdain for everything related to Buddhism and Hinduism, received evidence of this ceremony in their dreams. Twice in those days gone by, when I worked as a faithful member of the Anglican Church and spread the Gospel, and when Buddhism for me was just a "pagan" religion, and Buddha (so great was my ignorance) - just one of the "pagan" idols, I twice - for seven years - I dreamed that I was participating in a strange ceremony and an unusual event. These events were captured so clearly and vividly, and the details were each time so the same, that it was impossible to dismiss this dream as an empty fantasy or to consider it just a kind of phenomenon from the realm of dreams. And only twenty years later, when I read the description of the Wesak Festival, I discovered that this must be exactly what I saw. My dream clearly indicated a real event. Several times I have met people who had a similar dream and who wondered what exactly they saw. When a dream seems exactly the same, when it is remembered by different people from all over the world, when the details of the dream remain unchanged, and when it is discovered that the dream is based on a certain event occurring at exactly the same time, then this undoubtedly gives scope for numerous discussions, causes genuine interest and, perhaps, indicates some real fact.

***

This dream, this legend, this fact can be described as follows: there is a certain valley lying at a rather high altitude at the foot of the Himalayan mountain system in Tibet. It is surrounded by high mountains on all sides, except for one, facing the northeast, where a narrow gap opens in the ridge. Thus, the shape of the valley resembles a bottle with the neck facing the northeast, and very much wider in the south. On its northern side, not far from the neck of the bottle, there is a huge flat rock. There are no trees or bushes in the valley, and some kind of rough grass covers it, but the mountain slopes are covered with trees.

During the Taurus full moon, pilgrims from all the surrounding areas begin to gather here; holy men and lamas come to the valley and fill its southern and middle parts, leaving the northeastern end relatively free. Here, as the legend says, the groups of those great Beings who are the Guardians on Earth of the Divine Plan for our planet and humanity gather. What names we call these Beings is not so important. Believing Christians may choose to talk about Christ and His church and believe that They form that great Cloud of witnesses that will guarantee humanity's final salvation. Esotericists of the whole world can call Them the planetary Hierarchy, Teachers of Wisdom, whom Christ, the Teacher of all Teachers and the Teacher of both angels and people, leads and teaches at their various levels. Or, after the Hindu scriptures, we can call Them Rishis, or after the Tibetan teachings, the Society of Enlightened Minds. They are Great Seers and Great Collaborators, to use more modern expressions, they are the totality of perfect people who followed in the footsteps of Christ and entered the veil for us, leaving us an example of what we should do like them. With wisdom, love and knowledge, they stand as a protective wall around our race and strive to lead us step by step (as they themselves were once led) from darkness to light, from the unreal to the real, from death to immortality. Members of this group of those who know God are the main participants in the Wesak Festival. They are ranked in concentric circles (according to their status and level of initiation development) at the northeastern end of the valley, preparing for the great act of service. In front of the rock, looking to the northeast, there are those Beings whom Their disciples call the "Three Great Lords". This is Christ standing in the center, this is the Lord of living forms, Manu, who stands to the right of Christ, and this is the Lord of civilization, who stands to the left of Him. All three are facing the rock, on which rests a huge crystal bowl filled with water.who stands to the left of Him. All three are facing the rock, on which rests a huge crystal bowl filled with water.who stands to the left of Him. All three are facing the rock, on which rests a huge crystal bowl filled with water.

An interesting detail about this ceremony and the degree of its reality: everyone who dreamed that they were taking part in it was always well aware of exactly where in the lower part of the valley they themselves stood. One of them, describing his dream to me, said that he was quite far away, near the tree to which the horse was tied. Others, too, seemed to know very well where they ended up. Only a few of them realized that the place and position of each of the spectators standing in the crowd clearly testifies to its evolutionary status.

Behind the standing groups of Teachers, adepts, initiates and main workers implementing the Divine Plan, there are world disciples and aspirants of various degrees and groups ("whether in the body or outside the body", to quote the words of St. Paul), who in our time form a New group of the World Service. Those who are present at the ceremony while still in their physical bodies arrive in the valley in the usual way. Others are there in their spiritual bodies and in a state of sleep. Could it be that the "dream" that they subsequently retell is a physical awareness and memory of some inner spiritual event?

When the hour of the full moon comes, silence is established among those gathered in the valley, and everyone looks to the northeast. Ritual movements are performed, in which the gathered together Teachers and Their disciples of all ranks occupy symbolic positions and form such important symbols at the bottom of the valley as the five-pointed star with Christ standing at its highest point; or a triangle, the top of which is Christ; or the cross and other well-known constructions, all of which have deep and powerful meanings. All this is done to the sounds of certain chanted words and esoteric phrases called mantras. Impatience among the audience is becoming extremely intense, and genuine tension is growing. The whole crowd of people seems to feel excitement, or a powerful vibration, which has the impact of the awakening souls of those present, merging and mixing all groups into one single whole and inspiring everyone to the great act of spiritual request, willingness and expectation. It is the highest point of the world aspiration focused in this waiting group. These three words - petition, willingness and expectation - best describe the atmosphere surrounding those present in this secret valley.

So, the legend says, Buddha returns once a year to bless our world, passing on a renewed spiritual life through Christ. Then the Buddha slowly moves away, again turning in the eyes of the audience into an obscure speck in the sky, which eventually completely disappears. The entire blessing ceremony, from the moment the Buddha appears in the distance to the moment when he disappears from view, takes only eight minutes. The annual sacrifice that Buddha makes for humanity (He pays a heavy price for his return) is over, and He returns again to the high place where He works and waits.

So the ancient story says, such is the legend behind this holiday so widespread in the East. …
