This story was recently sent to the American explorer of mysterious creatures Lon Strickler. Strickler was able to contact the author with the initials "BP" and obtain some additional information from him.
“It happened last year when my brother and I went hiking in the West Virginia mountains. This is a rather remote place and to get to the desired mountain, we had to drive for more than 2 hours along a winding road next to a deep cliff.
Finally we got to the point, left the car among the dense bushes and with our backpacks went to the forested mountain. We were surrounded by sharp, dangerous jagged rocks.
After about an hour, we stopped for the night and set up camp as the sun began to set. We lit a fire and admired the beauty of the sunset, watching the sun hide behind a stone wall and a small lake lying next to us.
But as soon as the sun went down, the oddities began. My brother began to say that every half hour he hears someone big - an animal or a person walking nearby around us. According to him, he hears the sound of very soft creeping steps.
I was tired and it seemed to me that his imagination was just running out, so I asked him to shut up, to put it mildly. But he said he hears it anyway.
At 11pm, something even weirder happened. I was just dozing off and suddenly we both heard a very strong rumble in the direction where the lake was. We both jumped to our feet, grabbed our weapons (shotgun and magnum) and ran towards the lake.
Of course, we didn't see anything like that there. It was so dark that you could barely make out anything. So we decided that just a few stones rolled off the cliff into the lake and decided to return to our camp.

And suddenly, when we were already walking back, my brother froze, turned to me and in a loud whisper said “Look over there,” and then pointed with his hand to our left. It was then that I realized that my brother had really heard something unusual in the evening.
About a hundred yards (90 meters), near the trees, stood a tall black figure, probably ten feet (3 meters) tall. It was impossible to see the details of the appearance, but two large eyes on the head were very distinctly shining with golden light.
The figure was not motionless, it swayed evenly from side to side, and this movement seemed to hypnotize my brother and me for several seconds, and we froze in place. But then my brother woke up, shouted "Get out of here, asshole!" And shot in his direction with his magnum.
The figure froze and stopped swaying. Now she just looked at us and the golden glow of her eyes became even stronger. And then the figure quickly disappeared somewhere.
My brother and I ran to our camp, kindled a fire brighter and sat near it without closing our eyes for about an hour. When we had already decided that this creature had cleared away, we heard a loud rustle nearby in the bushes. And suddenly it screamed and was so loud and scary that we had never heard anything like it.
We packed up our things as quickly as we could and ran in the dark down the mountain to our car. We were afraid to even turn on our flashlights, as we both perfectly heard how it was moving in our tracks, there was a loud crackling and noise.
Then we still turned on the lights and soon ran to our car and climbed inside. When we started the engine and drove away, it screamed loudly and terribly again. My brother was so scared that his hands were shaking.
We still don't know what it was, but we will never go there again."
In an interview with an eyewitness, Lon Strickler found out that the incident took place in Monongahela National Forest near Mount Gaudinir Nob or the nearby Mount Bald Nob. It is possible that tourists have met Bigfoot, but it could be something completely different.
