Tambov archaeologists carried out excavations on the territory of the Arzhenka breeding farm in the town of Rasskazovo. Scientists have set themselves the goal of testing the legend of the ancient warrior. According to local residents, ten years ago, in one of the buildings of the enterprise from the time of the Aseev buildings, remarkable objects were discovered: from knightly armor, to a coffin chained with chains and a dagger flashing from the depths.
The excavations began on September 11, 2016. As a result of the work carried out, archaeologists did not find anything of value. The initiator and participant of the excavations, a local historian Andrei Litovskiy, told IA Online Tambov.ru about this.
“The only thing they found was a large wooden niche, which may have served as a granary. Local residents were invited, but their testimonies varied, and there were those who retracted their words,”Litovskiy said.
The information about the failed sensation was confirmed by the Center for the Preservation and Use of the Historical and Cultural Heritage of the Tambov Region, but they refused to give details.
“On Wednesday we are holding a press conference, we will tell everything there. Until there are no comments, work is still underway on site,”said the director of the center, Alexander Kuznetsov.

The legend of the ancient burial appeared in the early 2000s, when workers in a repair shop were digging an inspection pit. In the ground, according to their stories, there was a niche, and in it - the remains of a warrior in armor and with a sword. Eyewitnesses recalled how they tested the sword for strength - they beat it on various objects. Only rust flew away from him, and the sword itself remained intact. The warrior's armor was of yellow-green bronze. According to the employees of the enterprise, the management of "Arzhenka" instructed the workers to bury the find and not advertise its existence, so that further research would not paralyze the activities of the workshop. As a result, a brick-lined inspection pit for car repairs appeared at the burial site. The director of the Arzhenka breeding farm at that time was Sergei Konnov, chairman of the committee on agrarian issues of the Tambov Regional Duma of the fifth convocation.
