That's a record so a record! The folk healer of the Skachki village of the Mokshan region is 91 years old! For almost a century, Maria Vasilievna Redkina had to endure many trials of fate. It would seem that, having reached a respectable age, you can live for yourself. But the veteran of labor still receives people who need help …
“I have been living here since my birth,” says Maria Vasilievna. - Was the eldest of four children. As a twelve-year-old girl, she began to work at the local collective farm. Voroshilov. She worked in the summer and studied in the winter.
When the war began, my father went to the front, and we never saw him again - only the funeral came. And I just finished the seven-year school and became an accountant on the collective farm. During the war I saw seven chairmen of the collective farm - one by one they were taken to the front. And how happy we were when Levitan announced on the radio that the Nazis had surrendered!"
Life in the village was not sugar after the war. Work from early morning, home, children … Six children, like chicks, scattered one after another from their nest. At 60, Redkina buried her husband and was left alone. But children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren do not forget Maria Vasilievna, every week someone comes to visit. By the way, the labor veteran has 9 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. There is something to be proud of!
And at 40, Maria Redkina mastered the gift of healing people. Although, as it is recognized, for herself it came as a complete surprise. An old woman lived in the next street - Baba Yasha, to whom many turned for help. She healed with holy prayers and charmed water.
“And now the time has come for her to die, and there is no one to pass on knowledge,” says Maria Vasilievna. - Well, she called me to her place. She says it will be a shame if such knowledge goes with me to the grave, come on, Masha, I will teach you what prayer when to read and how to speak water.
I deny, they say, what a sorceress I am! And she stands her ground: "No, I see what you can do, you are marked by God." And so she persuaded."
Every day for a week Redkina went to the old woman, diligently writing down all the prayers in a notebook. And when she gave her soul to God at the time predicted by her, she felt as if her eyes had opened. I looked at the world in a new way, saw how many people need her help. And I thought that she would not cope with such a burden. But, as they say, the eyes are afraid, but the hands do.

Gradually, the rumor about the successor of Baba Yasha spread throughout the region, and then throughout the Sursk region. Still, because Maria Redkina does not refuse anyone, she takes up any ailments. Except, perhaps, serious diseases like oncology, especially neglected forms, when official medicine can offer only pain relievers. Knows that her powers are not unlimited. But hernia, rash, erysipelas, eczema, stuttering and anxiety in children - here she is a real dock.
“I am 91 years old, and people still go to Skachki for help from Mokshan, Penza, and other districts of the region,” the healer shrugs. - I can’t refuse anyone. Moreover, there is still a lot of evil in the world. Sorcerers and warlocks spoil people's lives as they can.

“And somehow nuns came to me,” the healer continues. - They say: we see, you have strength, let's go with us, collect the dead on their last journey. I thought: why be afraid of the dead? Their souls fly away to the afterlife, leaving an empty shell. But bright souls go to the upper world, and those burdened with sins - to the lower one.
But there are different kinds of sin. Sometimes a person wears damage on himself until his death and does not suspect about it. So she often saw off the last journey, even removing the damage from the deceased. It's hard, but where can you go if your soul needs your help."
When asked what is the secret of her longevity, Marya Vasilievna shrugs her shoulders. Like, I worked all my life, and even now I don’t sit around: every day I have to do something around the house, then someone will run in to get medical treatment - there’s no time to grow old. There are still not so many gray hairs on the head.
“In general, the most important secret of longevity is the ability to live in harmony with oneself,” says Maria Redkina. “If your soul is calm, you know that you live by faith, and people only see good from you, then you don’t notice for years.”
