Many of us are skeptical and do not believe that ghosts really exist or even more so can appear in photographs. But history knows several cases when vague outlines of faces and figures of people appeared in pictures of different years.
Many of them were noticed back in the first half of the 20th century, when no Photoshop existed. So what was it really? Fans of esotericism are sure that these are the spirits of the dead, and rationalists claim that these are just glints of light. But it's better to form your own opinion about these strange phenomena: here is a selection of the most famous photos of "ghosts".
Freddy's ghost
One of the most popular "ghost" photographs was taken in 1919. A group photo of the Daedalus crew shows a face behind one of the men. It was claimed that this is the face of the mechanic Freddie Jackson, who died a few days before, falling under the propeller blades. On the day the photo was taken, Freddie's funeral took place. Thus, the man allegedly wanted to say goodbye to his friends and colleagues.
Chinnery's mother's ghost

In 1959, Mabel Chinnery returned from the cemetery, where she visited her mother's grave. She decided to take a picture of her husband, who was waiting for her in the car. The photo clearly shows that someone is in the back seat. Mabel easily recognized the unknown figure as her mother, who had died several years ago. The experts studied the photo for a long time and came to the conclusion that no manipulations were made with it.
Ghost at the Greenwich Museum
This photograph dates from 1966, when a man decided to capture the beautiful spiral staircase of the Greenwich Museum in the UK. During development, a silhouette of a man climbing a ladder appeared in the photograph. It is often said about the Greenwich Maritime Museum that evil spirits roam there. Many visitors hear strange sounds and see transparent figures of people.
Little girl ghost
In November 1995, the Wem Town Hall building in one of the counties of Great Britain burned down during a major fire. While the house was burning, none of the firefighters saw the little girl who then appeared on the developed film. Skeptics claim that the image could have come out like this thanks to smoke as well as diffused light. But could such a girl's face have turned out only because of the smoke? It turned out that in 1677, the building was already on fire, while the culprit was fourteen-year-old Jane, who was among the dead. Perhaps her ghost still wanders around her native places, frightening the local residents.
Ghost of a man in a hat
Terry Ike Clanton decided to photograph his friend in Bathhill Cemetery. During the photo session, only they were on the territory, but the third person is clearly visible in the photo - a very short man in a black hat. His height still haunts experts - either the man is on his knees, or he comes out of the grave.
Ghost in the church
Photographer Chris Brackley, while walking around London, went to St. Botolph's Church, where there were only a few parishioners besides him. The photo shows the silhouette of a woman on the right side of the balcony. Chris was very surprised because there was no one in this place during the shooting.
Ghost soldier
Photo taken during the American Civil War. Eyewitnesses say that the photograph showed the silhouette of a soldier who died during the war.
Ghosts of sailors
Michael Meehan and James Courtney died accidentally on the Watertown oil tanker on their next voyage. Traditionally, sailors are buried at sea. After the funeral, other members of the ship's crew began to notice the faces of the victims in the waves that diverge behind the stern of the ship. The captain asked the crew to photograph this unusual phenomenon. The result is in front of you.
Ghost of an accident victim
And this photo was taken after a terrible car accident. The white cloud is very reminiscent of the silhouette of a person walking from the car in the other direction. Perhaps the photo captures the soul of the deceased, which has just left the body.
The ghost of a man in a top hat
This photograph of a young mother and child was taken for the family archives in 1930. If you look closely, you can see a man in old-fashioned clothes and a top hat on his head near the barn door. A few years later, a skeleton of a man was found under the foundation of the house.
