Throughout the past year, there has been a lot of controversy regarding the electromagnetic inductor motor known as "EM Drive". This unreal device from a logical point of view, the development of which is still at the experimental stage, has become a real challenge to the general opinion of the scientific world. The idea of creating "EM Drive" is so exciting because this engine has a colossal thrust, thanks to which it is hypothetically capable of delivering a man to Mars in just 70 days, without any expensive rocket fuel. It is driven by microwaves vibrating back and forth inside the sealed capsule, and it is this effect that makes the engine so incredibly powerful and at the same time so incredible.

The fact is that this amazingly effective source of driving force contradicts one of the basic physical laws - the law of conservation of momentum. This law states that in order for an object to receive a forward momentum, some propellant must be thrown with the same momentum in the opposite direction. For this reason, when British scientist Roger Shower created the prototype of the EM Drive in the early 2000s, the idea of such an engine was largely ridiculed and thrown out of the field of view of the scientific world.

However, a few years later, a group of Chinese researchers decided to build their own version of the device and, to everyone's surprise, it actually worked. Then the American inventor also did something similar and convinced NASA's Eagleworks Laboratories research group led by the famous Harold "Sonny" White to conduct an experiment. NASA engineers eventually admitted that the engine did indeed work. And finally, the famous Martin Tajmar, the head of the German Institute for Aerospace Engineering at the Technical University in Dresden, who conducted experiments with his own electromagnetic motor, also received confirmation that he is able to generate thrust, however, for reasons unexplained today.

Tajmar presented his findings during a forum of the American Aeronautics and Space Institute held in Florida on July 27, 2015. He has carried out extensive work on experimental testing of revolutionary electromagnetic motors, thus his findings are of great value as another independent confirmation of the performance of "EM Drive".

Most importantly, his system generated an amount of thrust that was broadly in line with Shower's predictions, which is several thousand times that of a photon-powered rocket.

What are the consequences of the appearance of such an engine in the arsenal of mankind? Of course, it is difficult to resist speculation about how revolutionary this discovery may be for planet Earth, however, it is likely worth waiting for the publication of the results that Shower intends to publish, according to reports, in just a few months.

So it may well be that some of the basic laws of physics will have to be changed to explain how this engine works. However, if this opens the door for humanity to travel throughout the solar system, and, more importantly, beyond, such a sacrifice seems to be quite justified and will be willingly made.
