Until recently, the mysterious "Chupacabra" lived in the north-western regions of Ukraine: the first information about it appeared in 2003 in the Ternopil region.
In 2009, rabbits with sucked blood began to be found in the Lviv region, then in the Kiev region and Chernihiv region. Attacks by an unknown beast were recorded in the Vinnitsa, Zhytomyr and Khmelnytsky regions. And now, in the Zaporozhye region, the "monster" began to play pranks.
At the height of summer, alarming information came from the Pologovsky district. With a difference of three weeks, the animal ripper visited the farmsteads of the villages of Chapaevka and Konskiye Razdory, frightening the local residents.
“I can say for sure that this is not a wolf or a dog, this behavior is not typical for them”
The beast visited the yard of the Sadovy family, residents of the village of Konskie Razdory, on the night of August 1.
“I went out into the yard at about seven o'clock in the morning and discovered the absence of two goats out of four,” says 40-year-old Vladimir Sadovoy. - We never locked animals in the barn for the night, because we live practically in the center of the village and thought that we had nothing to be afraid of. I decided that the wife of the goats had untied them and moved them to graze in another place. But Svetlana said that she did not do it. There were no goats in the garden either, and I thought they had been stolen.
One is a young goat, I bought it three months ago, but I'm sorry for the milking goat, which is already five years old. Who else, if not a man, can pull out a massive stake from the ground, to which animals were tied? I always hammered this metal rod very deeply so that the goats would not loosen it while they run around, and before that I even tied a cow to it. Most importantly, when I returned home from work at about 1 am, the goats were there!

I called the police. Employees of the Pologovskiy regional police department arrived with a dog handler and a service shepherd dog. In my opinion, the dog behaved strangely, somehow nervous, or something.
She found the loss, but did not want to follow the tracks. Our goat was lying on the ground with a torn belly. The internal organs were in place, only about a third of the liver remained, the meat was not touched. And on the throat - traces of large fangs. And there is no blood at all!
Not on the animal, not around
For a fox, such a goat is an unbearable burden, it weighed 60 kilograms. Then, together with a neighbor, the remains of the animal barely carried away to bury. The most important thing is that 50 meters, no less, the goat moved as if through the air - no traces of dragging! How is this possible? The animal carried her in its teeth, or what? Or … in the paws?
But the wolf, as far as we know, throws prey on its back
- I can say for sure that it was not a wolf or a dog that crushed a goat, this is not typical for them. The wolf always grabs the prey by the throat and pulls out the Adam's apple. And then Adam's apple is not touched. By the way, the kid was never found. It is a pity that our yard dog died recently, maybe she would bark? There is only a puppy left, but he is so small that he does not even know how to bark. We did not hear any suspicious noises. A baby recently appeared in our family, so my wife sleeps very lightly. Now we are worried about both pets and children, and it will be scary to go out into the yard at night and return from work in the dark.
About "chupacabra" in the Horse Strife are not discussed. It is believed that maybe some sick animal is sneaking around the households or a mutant. One of Vladimir Sadovy's neighbors recalled that at her friend's house three months ago, some animal had killed chickens and tore a goat. Other villagers had similar cases of attacks on poultry and livestock.
The cries of a night predator were like … the cries of a March cat
Journalists from the Pologov newspaper Rayonka did not disregard the alarming fact. Moreover, a month ago they already made a photo report from the village of Chapaevka, which is ten kilometers from Konskiye Razdorov, where they even saw an unknown animal.
A resident of the village Yekaterina Nosko told the reporter that she left the house early in the morning and heard a rooster crow. “It bursts,” the woman explained. The hostess went into the hen house and saw that one hen was huddled in a corner, and on the other some terrible animal was sitting on top.
- I screamed, and she jumped quickly, quickly, climbed through the grate, I did not even have time to trace where I went, - explains the pensioner. - Ten more chickens lay barely alive, around was full of feathers. Each bird had fang marks on its neck, two holes each. Maybe she wanted to drink blood from them? The chickens were still warm, even stirring. I decided to cut them - I felt sorry. I went to put the water on, and when I returned, I saw that this creature was sitting nearby and looking at me!
Ekaterina Grigorievna managed to examine the so-called Chupacabra before it disappeared into the thickets of corn. According to the woman's description, the animal was auburn color with brown spots, similar to a dog. Pointed ears are erect, a large mouth with huge fangs and a bushy tail. The front legs are much smaller than the hind legs. It jumps like a kangaroo, and "meows" loudly and alarmingly, like a lynx.
Selyanka said that on the same day her daughter-in-law went to Pologi to a veterinary hospital with one of the crushed chickens. The women thought they would be able to carry out an examination of the object of the attack on it. Alas, it turned out that such analyzes are not carried out in the regional center. But it was recommended not to eat poultry meat, but to burn the feathers. Veterinarians suggested that, most likely, the robbery perpetrated the transfer of a fox or a dog crossed with a wolf.
The second incident, which was reported by "Rayonka", also occurred in Chapaevka. Galina Lukhanina told Pologovskie journalists that an unknown animal had visited her yard twice: in early May and in June. The woman woke up at dawn from feeling bad. And when she opened the window, she heard a terrible cry of some beast, after which a rooster roared. It turned out that most of the poultry had disappeared from her yard overnight. Only the feathers on the fence, which the night visitor had to overcome, reminded of them.

- The first time I decided that the neighbor's dog had done me such trouble. But the dog will not climb so high, - complained Galina Petrovna.
The woman showed scratches on the barn and the remains of soil on a metal mesh almost two meters high! That is, the beast climbed over it, and did not jump over.
Galina Lukhanina did not see the robber alive, but she found his tracks in the garden: along them, she assumed that the animal moves mainly on its hind legs, and with its front legs it pushes off the ground. Well, the cries of the animal were like … the cries of a March cat. During two visits, the Chupacabra carried away 18 chickens, about three dozen chickens and 10 Indoyats from the yard. And the remaining birds are so scared that they are even afraid of people.
Foxes with rabies lose their sense of fear
- It is quite possible that this happened before, but only two residents of the village contacted me, - the local veterinarian Inna Zamirailo comments on the situation. - Last year, a similar incident happened in Horse Strife: an unknown animal also strangled a bird, and even rushed at people! The victims later even lay in the hospital. Those who have seen "Chupacabra" claim that it looks like a fox and a kangaroo at the same time. I can only say that this creature is intelligent - it does not take dead meat, only fresh meat. Perhaps, with her cry, she paralyzes the victims and therefore manages to gnaw the throats of several birds at once so quickly?
“I know about these cases,” says Viktor Polyak, head of the veterinary medicine department in the Pologovsky district. - But the animal was not caught, not photographed, so I cannot say with certainty who it was. People have even seen this creature. According to their stories, he has large hind legs, and the front ones are smaller. Among themselves, the villagers call it "Chupacabra". And from the point of view of veterinary medicine, it could be a sick fox. A patient with rabies or some other disease, because her body, according to the description, is covered with fine hair, almost bald. A fox is also more suitable in size, and not a raccoon dog, which is usually smaller. While we are joking: a beast unknown to science.
Is it typical for a fox to take away one chicken and strangle the rest?
- You know, chickens start to make a commotion, so the foxes strangle them. The most important thing is that in all cases the animals were in the open air, not in poultry houses or sheds. An unknown animal had easy access to them. We've had attacks on domestic animals before. If we talk about foxes with rabies, then such animals lose their sense of fear. And our region is unsuccessful for rabies, around the steppe, animals have a place to hide. More than ten cases of rabies were reported in the district last year.
By the way, according to the press service of the Zaporozhye Regional Sanitary and Epidemiological Station, in the first half of 2013, 81 animals were diagnosed with rabies in the region and laboratory confirmed, among them 25 were foxes.
“By the end of the week, the police, together with the forestry game rangers and hunters, are planning to comb the surroundings in order to find or drive away an unknown animal from the village,” said Aleksandr Onishchenko, deputy chief of precinct police officers of the Pologovskiy regional police department. - We must protect the population from possible attacks, protect their domestic animals, cattle and birds.
Another attack by an unknown animal was recorded in the Ukrainian village of Peschanka. On the night of August 3, in a village in the Dnepropetrovsk region, an unknown creature attacked rabbits.
According to eyewitnesses: “We were sleeping, when suddenly we heard barking and incomprehensible whining of dogs (it was about 2:30 am). We went out into the street and were horrified, an animal unknown to us sat and tormented the poor rabbit near the cage with rabbits.
It reminded us a bit of a big dog, but we have never seen anything like it. When they took a flashlight and began to approach it, it jumped over a one and a half meter fence in an instant and disappeared.
We approached the cage, but there was no rabbit in it, and the most surprising thing was that the cage was closed. The rabbit was lying beside her bloodless and without entrails (the entrails lay nearby), the cage was all scratched and gnawed!
The same situation happened on the same night at the neighbors'.
Unknown animal, visit not only our bunnies, but also our neighbors. The mysterious beast killed about 20 birds. Whether there were bites on the corpses, people did not pay attention, but the cages were torn so that no dog could do this! Local veterinarians came and examined everything, but they had never seen such traces or anything like it!
