A NASA satellite has discovered a strange gravitational anomaly under the ice of Antarctica. This caused another surge of conspiracy theories on the network about the existence of an underground base created during the Second World War.
From March 2002 to October 2017, NASA, in conjunction with the German Aerospace Center, conducted an experiment to study the distribution of mass around the globe. However, among all the open scientific world, most of all interested in anomalous formation under the ice of Antarctica.
In 2006, a team of researchers led by Ralph von Frese and Laramie Potts discovered a gravitational anomaly under the ice with an area of approximately 500 km. The team of scientists suggested that this is a massive impact crater that was buried under the ice. Most likely, it was caused by an asteroid impact.
However, in the light of the events that have opened, another version surfaced, which was quite popular in the 20th century. Lover of riddles and secrets blogger Tyler Glockner said that it could be the remains of the legendary German base. The theory that the Nazis built a base near Antarctica during World War II was quite popular. It was even believed that many henchmen after the end of the war fled there, as, possibly, Hitler himself.
Tyler recalled that in 1991, a secret document about a US project called Highjump was published. In the 1940s, the United States sent a secret mission to Antarctica. It numbered 4,700 people, and they spent several years in the ice. Then they quickly curtailed the expedition and left the continent. However, the conspiracy theorists believe that their real goal was to find an underground passage to the Nazi base. And yes, many believe that they still found this entrance and sealed it.
By the way, this is not the only evidence that suggests the existence of something hidden under the ice. In February 2018, a heat map of the planet was released, which cast doubt that only ice covers Antarctica.
