On July 12, Petersburgers noticed a dark band of unknown origin in the sky. A photo with the phenomenon was sent by a reader.
“A meteorite fell on St. Petersburg,” added the author of the photo.
Photos of the strip in the sky on Facebook were published by the chief weather forecaster of St. Petersburg Alexander Kolesov. "And what kind of stick is lying on the clouds?" - he asked meteorologists and subscribers. One of the subscribers wrote that she saw the same strip in the south-west of the city.
The comments first of all suggested that this is a trail from an aircraft, but Kolesov rejected this option, since, according to him, such a trail would be visible only against the background of a clear sky. Users did not come to a final conclusion about the origin of the phenomenon.
In the comments in the Papers public in VKontakte, they drew attention to the fact that this is not the first time such a trace appears in the sky over St. Petersburg. He was already noticed on the evening of July 9th.
