In early 2014, a young girl Elena (21 years old) turned to the Kirov branch of Cosmopoisk with a complaint about sudden manifestations of a “noisy spirit” in her apartment.

As it became known, the apartment itself was bought by her parents 9 years ago, where the three of them lived with Elena, later in January 2011 their grandmother joined them. The latter was sick with cancer and literally in 3 months she died without leaving a coma. Soon, the parents moved to live in the village, in the grandmother's house, and Elena, with the exception of the cat Tishka, remained in the only apartment living.

It so happened that the girl met the New Year 2014 at home alone. Just during the chimes, Elena saw with her peripheral vision a large black shadow in the room near the closet. As soon as she looked directly at the shadow, it immediately disappeared. On the morning of January 1, Elena discovered that the electronic alarm clock was showing the wrong time, and all their functions were reconfigured. When she returned home in the evening of the same day, she found, among other things, that the napkins, originally folded in a fan, were collected in a neat pile, and only one lay diagonally. The knife lying next to it was thrown aside, the drawer of the bedside table was pulled out.

The next day brought more surprises. In the morning the kitchen light turned on itself. Elena walked over to the light switch and instinctively pressed it to turn off the lights, but the light remained on. It turned out that Elena had switched the key to the "on" state, that is, the light was on when the state was off. Pressing the key again to the "off" state has already extinguished the light. The survey showed that the spring in the switch key is quite elastic and arbitrary closing is excluded. After this episode, the New Year's outburst of activity by the alleged "noisy spirit" suddenly ended.

It is worth noting that unexplained episodes in Elena's apartment happened before, but they were stretched out in time and, perhaps, did not stand out so much in the general routine of life. In addition, footsteps, squeaks of an unknown nature were heard, the smell of metal was felt, once the door to the room slammed spontaneously, keys often disappeared. Once, such a loss allowed Elena to avoid misfortune, since the girl, in search of keys, missed her bus, which had a serious accident that day.

Sometimes Elena noticed some movement in the apartment. With her peripheral vision, the girl could see various blurry images, black balls. In the spring and summer of 2013, there were several episodes of water puddles in the kitchen. The girl also noted that after the death of her grandmother, she felt light touches to the body. The deceased's belongings are still kept in her apartment.

Researchers from the Kirov-Kosmopoisk group managed to meet with Elena and visit her "restless" apartment. Due to the sluggish nature of the alleged poltergeist, research activities were limited to a general inspection of the apartment, a survey of the main places of unexplained episodes, and drawing up on the basis of this a plan of the living quarters. It should be noted that in this case, the number of subjective experiences (for example, a sense of presence, olfactory sensations) still exceeds the number of objective phenomena, i.e., moving objects, disorderly operation of devices.

At the same time, objective incidents are quite rare here, and under normal circumstances, such events are not paid special attention to. But some sensitive eyewitnesses are particularly inclined to notice and trust exactly unusual, unexpected events in the environment and label them as "abnormal."

As a result, such marking can initiate steady bursts of "paranormal observations", which may explain the sudden New Year's activity in Elena's apartment. In the event of a resumption of poltergeist incidents in the apartment, the possibility of attracting other research groups included in the sector for the study of poltergeist at "Komopoisk" is being considered.
