The regal eucalyptus, whose height did not reach 100 meters by only 30 centimeters, was found on the territory of the Australian island of Tasmania in 2008. Since then, the eucalyptus has grown by 80 centimeters and officially became the tallest deciduous tree in the world.

“Our Centurion nevertheless passed the 100-meter mark, with which we congratulate him! It is now the tallest deciduous tree on the planet!”Said Yoav Daniel Bar-Ness, spokesman for the Giant Tree Expeditions project.

Centurion is the name given to the giant eucalyptus. In ancient Rome, a high-ranking military man was called a centurion, under whose command there were a hundred soldiers, so the name by the tree, as we can see, is very symbolic.

Tasmania is generally a good destination for those who love the tallest trees. There is, for example, the world's tallest flowering plant, as well as other record-breaking plants.

“In the Tasmanian valley of the Styx, you can find another tree, the height of which tends to a hundred meters - this is a plant named Icarus Dream. Its height is 97 meters, and as in the case of the Centurion, this tree can grow even more,”adds Daniel.

Those wishing to see the tree named Centurion with their own eyes should go to the Tahune Forest Reserve, which is located in the area of the world famous tourist pearl "Air Trail" (original name - Tahune Airwalk).
