Nuclear bombings, devastating earthquakes, monstrous pandemics, deadly solar activity - everything that today causes the alarm of scientists and environmentalists, was predicted almost two thousand years ago.
It sounds incredible, but the joint research of historians and anthropologists indisputably proves that all the global risks of today are described in detail in one of the most ancient religious texts - the Revelation of John the Theologian.
The researchers' forecast is disappointing. Humanity is threatened by both global warming and a new ice age, an unexpected mutation of viruses and nuclear winter, a change of poles and an asteroid attack. Each version has reputable supporters from the world's leading universities, and more importantly, each was described by an ancient Christian prophet. But there is a slight difference: our contemporaries are united in the fact that we live in the era of the decline of humanity, the end of which will be swift and merciless. And John the Theologian gives people hope for salvation.
Apocalypse - what will it be? The revelation of John the Theologian is the world's most famous forecast of the death of all mankind. It sounds incredible, but even scientists are united on this issue. They agree that the sacred document is nothing more than a prediction of the most probable natural and man-made disasters that threaten humanity today.
Researchers of ancient texts are sure: the prophet saw a sad prospect for mankind, but he could not describe it in terms that we understand, simply because two thousand years ago mankind did not know what a thermonuclear reaction, geomagnetic anomalies and man-made disasters were. However, the symbols and meanings hidden in the text of the prophecy can be deciphered.
year 2012. Snow fell in Africa. The sandy dunes of the Sahara have turned into white drifts. There were snow storms in Turkey. Snowstorms paralyzed car traffic in Serbia, the Caspian Sea froze over, and Jerusalem was covered in snow. The lands, which were considered the territory of eternal summer a hundred years ago, now go into winter every year. And this, according to the researchers, is the result of global warming.
There are many reasons why nature settles scores with us, but the main one is human activity.

Civilization greedily consumes the resources of the earth and emits too much heat, and this has a detrimental effect on the planet's climate, it becomes unpredictable - winter becomes much colder and summer is hotter. Recent calculations by climatologists predict that the average annual temperature in Europe will soon drop to minus twenty degrees; Greenland and the Far North will become resort areas, and a deadly heat will reign in those territories that until recently were considered the harsh Siberian taiga. And if a person does not moderate his needs, then in the near future one third of the land may go under water. The destruction mechanism has been launched, and the count has been going on for years.
Scientists are unanimous in their opinion: the process of turning the planet into a desert has already begun and will continue. Moreover, studying the ancient prophecy of John, researchers found that a similar scenario of the death of mankind is mentioned twice in the revelation: in one of the chapters it is said that the fourth bowl of God's wrath is poured out into the sun.
According to the researchers, this is a description of another scenario that is fatal for humanity, associated with the growing solar activity. There is a theory according to which the solar system is approaching a linear-gravitational anomaly, one of the most mysterious places in the Universe, where the laws of attraction on nearby stars and planets practically cease to operate.
According to the scientist, powerful flares are already taking place on the Sun - and huge clouds of plasma are flying towards the Earth. While their influence is almost imperceptible, but very soon humanity will feel it on itself. The ozone layer will no longer cope with the intensified waves of hard radiation, and the planet will experience another outbreak of cancer - this time it will be skin cancer. The very "plagues" that the prophet speaks of.
The solar wind is a stream of radioactive particles that rush at a terrible speed in all directions from our star. Until now, the Earth was protected from it by a thin ozone layer and the earth's magnetic field, which created the effect of a kind of pillow. Today the ozone layer has been seriously eroded by civilization, and the magnetic field will not withstand competition with the space anomaly.
It is not yet possible to say for sure - the worst will happen in a year or five years. However, scientists are confident that the current generation can already meet the last catastrophe in the history of mankind. The size of the Sun will increase in leaps and bounds. Mercury and Venus will instantly burn out. The Earth is likely to remain a celestial body, but humanity on its surface is unlikely to survive: at temperatures above 2000 degrees Celsius, protein life is impossible.
In 2006, astronomers sounded the alarm: the sun suddenly began to behave in a strange way. Until now, its activity has been cyclical and predictable: periods of maximum intensity have occurred once every eleven years. And in 2006 such a peak stage was supposed to come again. However, it has not yet occurred, and scientists around the world are anxiously expecting new dangerous surprises from the Sun.
All this time, the mystery remained unsolved, and only at the beginning of this year, scientists at the Australian Observatory put forward a shocking version: the violation of the solar maximum cycle is due to the fact that the star is accumulating strength so that soon it will fall on the Earth in an incinerating heat. And the first blow will be dealt to the most densely populated regions of the planet.
So far, no one can say how long the sunstroke will last - a year, ten or fifty years. But researchers are convinced that its first signs have already appeared.
The second angel's trumpet promises to humanity a different scenario of death and, according to researchers, a catastrophe may occur as a result of the eruption of a supervolcano or a series of eruptions across the planet.
Moreover, in the history of our planet there have already been periods suitable for the prophecy of John the Theologian. About 250 million years ago, the so-called Siberian traps erupted on Earth. Territories of thousands of square kilometers were covered with cracks, from which liquid lava flowed freely, spreading over the planet in a thin solidifying layer. According to historians, the eruption lasted a million years.
The last major eruption, though not comparable to the Siberian Traps, occurred relatively recently. About 75 thousand years ago, the Toba volcano in Indonesia woke up. They erupted about three thousand cubic kilometers of rock. For comparison, the sensational Icelandic volcano threw out into the air 28 thousand times less volume.
Scientists predict that the planet is now entering the next phase of seismic activity, which means that the likelihood of such eruptions is greatly increasing. Volcanoes that are attributed to the maximum risk group will wake up in the first place - and they are scattered all over the world: Merapi in Indonesia, Koryaksky in Kamchatka, Etna in Italy, Sakurajima in Japan, Colima in Mexico, Galeras in Colombia. This is only a small part of the most dangerous volcanoes that are ready to wake up at the first sound of the second angel's trumpet.
The destruction of urban infrastructure is the death of the state. Even if the result of a regional catastrophe is only a serious damage to power lines, this can already lead to truly dire consequences - chaos, epidemics and mass deaths. But a volcanic eruption rarely comes alone - usually it is associated with a shift in tectonic plates, which means that powerful earthquakes will follow a destructive eruption.
Earthquakes, poisonous rains and darkness constantly accompany descriptions of the end of the world. How the ancient prophet could have foreseen the connection between these phenomena remains a mystery. However, the picture painted in the Revelation of John very clearly shows the most terrible development of events: the simultaneous eruption of tens and hundreds of large volcanoes will flood the earth with lava, and the sky will be covered with thick clouds of volcanic ash for many years. Total darkness will reign on the ground, illuminated by incandescent magma from below and flashes of lightning from above. Those who dare to appear on the surface will find themselves under the corrosive rain of sulfuric acid.
But if tectonic shifts and fluctuations of the earth's crust always accompany large eruptions, sulfur precipitation and the disappearance of the sun are little-studied phenomena. However, experts provide an explanation for these mysteries. Both can happen if enough volcanic ash is in the atmosphere.
In general, humanity is marching towards its own death by leaps and bounds. The development of industry, nuclear technology and a disdain for nature create the most accurate preconditions for what was predicted by the prophet thousands of years ago.
