Bombay resident Pooja Ganatra was born into a respected high-income Indian family.

Among her relatives there is not a single "white", but the girl was born fair-skinned, with unusually bright blue-green eyes and red hair. And with freckles.

Her appearance is typically Gaelic (Scotland and Ireland) and even her face shape does not resemble that of her mother or father.

From early childhood, Pooja stood out so much for her appearance among the local girls that they were often ridiculed and called ugly. But adults also tried to avoid her, considering she was sick.

The girl's parents assure that Puja is their half-daughter, but they also do not understand who she went to. Among their relatives are all typical Indians with brownish skin, black hair and brown eyes.

According to one of the versions, the genes of the alleged ancestors from England "woke up" in the Puja, because India was a British colony for a hundred years. This phenomenon is called "evolutionary atavism".

But until Pooja did a DNA analysis and it is impossible to say whether this is the correct version or something else.

Even as an adult, the 23-year-old girl constantly faces problems because of her appearance, which is not standard for India. She is often mistaken for a foreign tourist and behaves accordingly, trying to take pictures with her, deceiving her about prices in stores, and sometimes openly begging for money.

When Pooja was born, her parents were greatly amazed, and when freckles began to pop up on the girl's face, they ran to the doctors, thinking that their daughter had a rare skin disease.

Now Pooja works in her own clothing business and she hopes sometime in the future to still pass a DNA test and find out where she got this appearance.

According to Pooja, when she gets into a taxi, they try to speak to her in English. And when she traveled to the United States, her passport was carefully checked at the airport and asked again if she was really Indian.

Curiously, Puja has no siblings, she is the only child of her parents. The fact is that her father and mother were so scared of her appearance that they decided not to have children anymore for fear that they would also turn out to be “sick”, that is, red and blue-eyed.

51-year-old Rajesh Ganatra, father of Puja, is a typical Indian with dark brown skin and black hair. Pooja's mother, 46-year-old Hemaxi, has much lighter skin, but she also lacks freckles, brown eyes, and black hair.

In her native India, the girl feels very uncomfortable. But when she went to the USA and Europe, she was as if among her own people. There, her appearance did not surprise anyone.

According to Pooja, in India, fair skin is considered beautiful, but fair skin with defects such as pockmarks or freckles is a real ugliness according to local canons. And worst of all, from sunny India, Puja's freckles only increase.

The girl tried for a long time to get rid of freckles with the help of different creams, but it was useless. But now Pooja has already come to terms with her appearance, and last year she even got on the popular page "Famous People of Bombay" on Facebook.
