Giant Moonfish

Rare jellyfish

In 2018, she met something that she had never met in all previous years.
It was a washed-up creature, round, with delicate edges and feather-like tentacles. The creature looked like a jellyfish.
Several of these jellyfish were washed ashore and caused quite a stir among the local public.
They are called blue buttons, and each of them is part of a colony of predators that stalk their prey.
However, such creatures are rare in New Jersey, because they live far from these places.
Scientists believe they were thrown by the current when Hurricane Florence raged in the area.
Wolf Island creature
In 2018, the sea washed up an unusual creature. The creature lives on Wolf Island in the National Wildlife Refuge National Park.

Urns with human ashes
In 2019, a man and his son found burial urns that were washed ashore in the Netherlands.

A 14-year-old teenager who found the urns with his father thought they might contain drugs.
However, when he opened the container, he realized that inside were the ashes of a person.
All three urns were marked, which made it possible to trace their origin - one of the crematoria in Germany.
German laws on the storage of human remains are very strict. Rarely do people get permission to keep the ashes of deceased relatives at home.
Marine burial is permitted if biodegradable materials are used for the urn, however the urns found were made of aluminum.
This caused controversy, but one of the shipping companies clarified.
These urns were on board one of her ships. If everything went according to plan, the ashes would be scattered over the water, but the company employees accidentally dropped the urns into the water.
Frozen turtles
Several turtles run aground in New England every November, but 2018 is unusual.
Thousands of turtles were washed ashore. Many of them were endangered species.

In three days, 219 turtles were thrown ashore. Only 46 of them were alive, the rest had already died.
One of these days, a strange thing happened: 82 turtles were thrown ashore, all but one froze to death.

The next day, temperatures rose and many of these turtles were found to be alive.
Strange balls on the French coast
