In Delhi, 35-year-old Indian Amrit Bahadur attacked his three-year-old daughter Bina and cut off both of her ears. Before that, he locked his wife and his other five children in another room.
When the police grabbed the man, he began to tell the story that the ghost told him to mutilate the child, otherwise the spirit would have taken the girl with him.
According to Mina, the girl's mother, her husband was really determined, since his other daughter had died earlier due to illness. The injured Bina and her severed ears were taken to hospital, where surgeons performed an emergency operation and sewed her ears back on. Now her condition is stable.
Meanwhile, Mina told the police that her husband acted as if he was hallucinating for the last ten days before the attack on her daughter. Prior to that, he had been under intense stress for the past two months due to the death of his two-year-old daughter, who died of a fever.
In the police, Bahadur said that he pleaded guilty, but continued to assure that it was the ghost that made him make his daughter cry a lot and then the spirit would not take her with him as the first girl.
The man was charged with attempted murder and causing serious bodily harm.
