The world community must prepare for an early meeting with extraterrestrial civilizations. This statement was made on Monday by the British Royal Academy of Sciences, which published a special study on the existence of life in the vastness of the Universe
“Based on the famous Drake's formula, according to which it is possible to determine the number of civilizations in the galaxy and to come into contact with them, we can assert that at any given moment there are from 10 to 100 extraterrestrial civilizations,” said one of the authors of the report, a professor at the University of St. -Andrew Martin Dominic. “This is the most conservative estimate, in reality there are much more intelligent life forms,” he said.
Dominic also urged not to be afraid of aliens, since "alternative worlds do not carry the dangers that are so colorfully described in science fiction literature."
British academics have proposed creating a special agency in the UN structures that will deal with issues related to the expected meeting with extraterrestrial civilizations.
Note that this is not the first time astronomers have argued that human contact with aliens is just a matter of time. So, according to Professor Seth Shostak of the SETI program and executive director of the Chabot Space Center Alexa Barnett, the first contact of earthlings with aliens will take place in 2025.
Also, scientists claim that they even managed to create a "portrait" of a representative of an extraterrestrial civilization, with whom mankind will have to meet. Scientists have named this model "Joe Alien." According to them, Joe was created in full accordance with all biological and physical laws.
Meanwhile, in 2009, the UK Department of Defense decided to close the department investigating incoming UFO reports. According to representatives of the ministry, unidentified flying objects do not pose a threat to the security of Great Britain.
Even earlier, NASA stopped the search for extraterrestrial life. The project to create an orbiting observatory to scan the universe in search of distant planets on which life is possible has been shelved due to funding cuts.

Drake's equation
The formula was developed by Frank Donald Drake, professor of astronomy and astrophysics at the University of California Santa Cruz, in 1960 to calculate the possibility of extraterrestrial civilizations. It was later called the Drake equation.

The equation determines the possible number of technologically advanced civilizations using seven coefficients: the rate of birth of new stars, the number of planets around a star, planets with a favorable environment for life, planets with life, intelligent life, communities and civilizations.
