In China, a girl was left paralyzed after a dance lesson. AsiaOne reports.
Tongtong, a six-year-old woman from Henan, China, has been taking dance classes for two years. In one of the stretching classes, the coach pushed the girl's leg so that she sat on the splits. After the exercise, she began to limp, and after a few hours she completely lost sensitivity in the lower body.
When the trainers noticed that something was wrong with the child, they tried to help her up, but the girl could not stay on her feet. Tuntong was immediately taken to hospital, where doctors determined that she had a spinal cord injury.
“The doctors said there was little hope of recovery. There is a high probability that the girl will remain paralyzed. Only a miracle can help her,”said Lee, the girl's mother.
According to the woman, Tuntong could have been injured while performing one of the dance exercises in the class, and the twine stretching only made the situation worse.
Wang, a teacher at the dance studio where the child studied, believes that the girl injured her leg simply because she had health problems before class and her parents did not report it.
“We voluntarily paid for all the primary medical expenses of the child. But in the future, we will not be able to support the girl financially,”Wang said.
Lee revealed that her daughter was very fond of dancing. The parents did everything possible to support the girl in her endeavors. But as soon as it became clear that the child's condition was not improving, she was forced to cut ties with the studio.
