When he moved to Norfolk, Prince William was warned that the Anmer Hall estate was often visited by the ghost of an executed Jesuit. According to rumors, this ghost has already been seen by his little son, Prince George.

A few weeks ago, Prince William, Duchess Keith and their one and a half year old son George retired from bustling London to Norfolk to the Anmer Hall mansion donated by Elizabeth II, which is part of the royal domain of Sandringham.

This ancient estate was owned by the Walpole family about five hundred years ago. At the end of the 16th century, the young owner of the estate, the Jesuit priest Henry Walpole, was convicted of his faith, executed and quartered at York; in 1970 he was ordained a saint.

Despite the fact that the martyr St. Henry died far from home, according to local beliefs, his spirit often visits Norfolk, and the ghost is repeatedly seen in the garden and in the castle of Anmer Hall. Prince William and Duchess Kate were warned of a possible troubled neighborhood, but the couple took this story with enthusiasm, saying that any old castle seems empty if it does not have its own ghost.

According to close family members, Prince George even saw him. It remains to be seen whether it was a joke, or whether the little prince really dreamed of something.

Meanwhile, Alan Murdy, chairman of the English Ghost Club, believes that such a phantom friend will benefit baby George, and Prince William will not pay attention to the ghost at all, since he has encountered them more than once in his life.

“Many royal residences are haunted. For example, Buckingham Palace was built on the site of a monastery. So to this day, on Christmas Day, the ghost of a monk appears there. Maybe that's why the royal family prefers to go to Sandringham for the holidays,”says Murdy.
