We will talk about a place known as the Chapel - among ufologists, this site on the map of the Moscow region is considered one of the most anomalous, and to this day it attracts numerous researchers and just tourists.
There is nothing intriguing about the name of the place. The Chapel village in the Pavlovo-Posad region, 11 kilometers south of the regional center, is quite a habitable place, although in 2010 only 13 people were counted there. The village has been known since the end of the 18th century - at that time 167 people lived in it and there were 26 houses. In the 100 years that have passed before the next census, almost nothing has changed in 27 houses and 158 residents.
Typical Russian remote place, where, as it might seem, time has stopped forever. But it is worth moving away from the village for a couple of kilometers, going deeper into the forest with swamps and windbreak, and your feet will carry you to the dilapidated chapel. That is exactly what is, according to the assurances of ufologists, the center of the abnormal geopathogenic zone. This is where the devilry begins.
An abnormal or geopathogenic zone is a local area of the terrain, within which phenomena occur that are difficult or not at all amenable to explanation within the framework of modern scientific theories. All these are modern scientific names, but our ancestors called such places damned, damnable or disastrous.
It is believed that a person cannot stay in such places for a long time. Yes, and accompanies the one who got there, as a rule, a feeling of unaccountable fear or strong anxiety. One of the theories explains this by infrasonic vibrations over deep fractures of the earth's crust, which in themselves can cause panic and deterioration of health up to hallucinations, and even more so in a person prepared by numerous terrible stories.
The stone chapel itself was built around the 17th century. They say that at first it was made of wood, but was later rebuilt by local residents and acquired stone walls. With the advent of Soviet power, it was abandoned and is still gradually being destroyed.
There is an interesting legend that the chapel stands on the site of an ancient pagan temple. At the base of the masonry, you can see unusual white stones - exactly the same ones are found in the meadow nearby. The line of the forest and the trees themselves around this place are bizarrely curving, numerous witnesses mention the grass allegedly crushed by someone, laid in concentric circles.

By the way, even the locals do not like the forests near the Chapel, although they are not extensive, they have earned a reputation for being lost and prodigal.
Among other anomalous zones of the Moscow region, the Chapel is famous for the most complete set of audiovisual effects. Numerous explorers and locals have observed strange sounds and shadows here, as well as lights and flashes attributed to UFOs. Some of the locals even claimed to have seen the landing of a strange flying object near this place.
In order not to be unfounded, let us give as an example the story of one of the inhabitants of the village of the Chapel:
It was evening and it was already dark. I was standing near the house. And suddenly over the forest (in the direction of the village of Semenovo) something began to make noise and a greenish glow appeared. At first I thought it was a helicopter. I called my neighbors, who also observed a strange phenomenon.
And then an object appeared from behind the forest. It was triangular, with a ray from each corner. These rays crossed and formed a strange unearthly glow that enveloped him. The apparition lasted for about five minutes. Then the triangle turned sharply and flew towards the village of Alferovo and disappeared over the forest there. This happened in autumn, at 11 o'clock in the evening, the weather was cloudy.
It must be said that it is the reports of passing lights, with a very complex trajectory and hardly imaginable aerodynamics, that prevail here. Locals constantly see glowing crosses, balls and groups of 3 or more objects in the sky above their village.
Of course, such numerous messages could not leave indifferent lovers of everything inexplicable and mysterious. 271 people took part in 26 research expeditions, and this is only under the auspices of the All-Russian Scientific Research Association Kosmopoisk - one of the largest domestic organizations engaged in the study of what modern science is not yet able to explain.
And how many more amateur expeditions and researchers there were! And everyone noted the unusual energy of this place and the numerous mysterious phenomena that are happening literally before their eyes.
Almost all ufologists claim that in such anomalous zones, human health is exposed to unnecessary risk, because it is influenced by certain energies and forces of an unclear nature. The integrity of the human energy field is allegedly violated, and, in connection with this, the likelihood of serious diseases increases.
However, numerous reports on visits to this area, published on the Internet, although they are full of reports of strange phenomena occurring in the anomalous zone, we could not find a single reliable one, where it would be stated about the undoubted health risk of a person who visited there.
Getting to the Chapel is pretty easy. From the Kursk railway station, you need to take a train to Pavlovsky Posad, then change to a minibus to Averkiev. Exit at the crossroads before reaching Brazunov. The abandoned chapel will be 2 kilometers to the east, in the corner of a large forest clearing.
