Why don't the patients of the regional hospital walk alone through the underground passages? How do cats get there and who do they see there?

The story of the entities living in the underground passages of the regional hospital has already become an urban legend. I visited there for the first time. Therefore, I am happy to share my photos. At the same time, when I froze in the passages with rounded eyes and set up my phone for a photo with a flash, representatives of the hospital warned me that if an article appears in the press or on the Internet with these photos, then the management will hardly be delighted. But what is important here is that there is a historical basis behind the chilling rumors, gossip and speculation. In general, I could not resist.

The history of this place

It is a well-known fact - the regional hospital was built "on bones" and occupies the territory of the Akhtyrsky cemetery. In addition, on the territory of the old churchyard there is a Forestry College, several residential buildings from the quarter of st. Vorovsky-Karl Marx-Krasnoarmeiskaya and children's hospital.

Akhtyrskaya church. Vyatka. Early 20th century

On the territory of the Regional Hospital, you can now find signs of the cemetery church of the Akhtyrka Mother of God. In a siding building that now belongs to the hospital, the altar of the temple is clearly visible. Only without domes and bell towers.

The cemetery existed for almost two centuries and was closed in 1927-1929. In the 50s of the last century, it was completely destroyed.

Older residents of Kirov say that living rooms were once made in the already inactive Akhtyrka cemetery church. Whole families lived there.

We find confirmation in the story of Pavel Novosyolov from the book "Vyatka in the Palm" by Rimma Lapteva.

The family of a certain Fedorov lived in the church … In 1940, the family was evicted from the church, a puncture repair shop was placed there. She worked throughout the Patriotic War. All the frescoes that were, all the murals were smoked beyond recognition. Of course, before the war, the cemetery was very clean. They just went there for a walk. So much greenery grew! Lilacs of different varieties, there were a lot of bird cherry, larch. There were cedars and a squirrel in the central entrance. Apparently, there was enough food, no one picked the cones there. You will see a squirrel - it is interesting to drive it, to run. Along the fence, there was a wall of fir trees. They also jumped from top to top! It used to be that you got your only pants dirty with gray, oh, and it got in … - Pavel Novoselov recalls.

In the 50s, the cemetery began to be dismantled. The memories of eyewitnesses and those who worked there have come down to us: people were horrified by the fact that the excavated cemetery ground glowed with the abundance of phosphorus. Everything around was littered with human bones. Some gravestones from the devastated cemetery were used to strengthen the Vyatka bank, others formed the foundation of the regional hospital buildings.

A new world is built

In general, according to the grandiose ideas of the Kirov architects, even before the Great Patriotic War, the place where the Akhtyrskoye cemetery was located should have become part of a huge botanical garden. But hospitals and hospitals in the post-war period were much more important to the city than gardens and parks.

The construction of the regional hospital was started in the 50s of the last century. By 1958, new buildings were already rising on the site of the old churchyard.

The buildings were connected by underground passages. In addition to the fact that it was convenient for transporting patients from building to building, various communications were located in fairly spacious passages: water pipes and heating pipes. This is what this place looks like today. It's a little creepy to be there alone. One can imagine what the patients experience as they are led through these transitions to procedures.

What, exactly, is the rumor?

Among the patients of the hospital, there is certainly talk that the institution was built on the site of an old city cemetery. In the long evenings in the wards, patients tell stories about the cemetery itself and about incidents in the hospital's underground passages.

Kirovchanka Lyudmila is sure that this place is mystical.

Strange things always happened there: either the necessary documents are strangely lost under the buildings of the medical staff during the transition underground, or strange rustles are heard in the corners, as if someone is whispering. The walls of the passages are shabby, plaster is falling from them. I had a feeling that now the wall would break and a skeleton would fall out.

A former employee of the regional hospital, who asked not to be named, said that she worked at the institution for many years.

We, of course, were not on duty at the hospital every night, but those who remained at the post told that there was clearly someone in the crossings. This became apparent when surveillance cameras were installed in the hospital. On the security console on the monitor, officers sometimes noticed white oval spots. They said that cats sometimes fell into the basement and they jumped to the side, as if they had seen someone. They say that cats see what people cannot see. I personally have not come across something otherworldly in the transitions, but it was always uncomfortable there.

A resident of the Kirov region Svetlana said that a few years ago a prayer room or a small hospital church appeared in the regional hospital. Patients could come here before surgery and pray for recovery.

I was lying in one of the oldest hospital buildings. The soaring ceilings of Stalin's times remain here. Some general atmosphere of the Soviet hospital was also present here. I had a major operation ahead of me. To get to the prayer room, you had to walk down the street or walk along the passage to another building. Imagine what condition a person who is threatened with surgery can have. We went to the prayer room together with a roommate. I walk and see that an elderly woman is walking towards us along the passage. Dressed in a robe and headscarf. Passed by and that's it. I told my neighbor about this woman, she claimed that no one came across to meet us. It seemed to me or I saw something otherworldly, now I do not even presume to argue.

Is there an official point of view?

In fact, transitions are like locations for a horror movie. But let's throw all the magic of this place aside. Without a doubt, many people know what the energy of a cemetery is. Someone in the burial place feels bad, is anxious, someone, on the contrary, calms down, but any person feels this energy on himself.

In addition, our ancestors were very sensitive to the cemetery land. After visiting the graves, our great-grandfathers thoroughly washed their shoes so as not to bring earth from the cemetery into the house. This land was often used in magical rituals and was treated with great care. Also, children were forbidden to pick berries and mushrooms in cemeteries. Ancestors believed that only churches could be built on the site of ancient cemeteries. Other buildings are unlikely to bring happiness to someone.

The whole city knows that the hospital was built on the territory of the Akhtyrskoye cemetery. With one of the young employees of the regional hospital, I had a chance to walk through the underground passages. He is sure that all the rumors and legends are nothing more than a figment of the excited imaginations of patients. For him, the transitions are more like 3D scenery of some kind of computer shooting game. He has been working in the regional hospital for some time, and he often visits the subway. Except for uneven walls and slippery tiled floors, I have never noticed anything strange here.
