Footprints of "mysterious strangers" found in Crete
Paleontologists from Sweden, Poland, USA and Greece (Polish Geological Institute - Polish Research Institute; Department of Organismal Biology, Uppsala University, Sweden; Dinosaur Tracks Museum, University of Colorado Denver; University of Warsaw; Faculty of Earth Sciences, University of Silesia; Bournemouth University; Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports, Ephorate of Palaeoanthropology-Speleology, Greece; University of Crete, Natural History Museum) are investigating a chain of footprints found at the western tip of the Greek island of Crete. Two-legged creatures left her. Barefoot. The footprints were imprinted in the coastal mud that formed in the place of the temporarily shallow Mediterranean Sea.
Crete footprints that surprised scientists.
Scientists assure: by all indications, human footprints - you can distinguish five fingers, a heel and other characteristic features. That is, people inherited on the island of Crete. Which, according to the currently accepted theories, could not be. After all, the chain of prints was found to be 5.7 million years old. And at that time, everyone who could - even theoretically - walk along the Cretan coast, were in Africa. They got out of it and settled in Europe after another 3 million years.
The footprints are larger: they are not large in size - such prints could be left by a modern child.
Scientists are perplexed: the find indicates that our distant primordial European ancestors could have appeared independently of their African colleagues. They could appear much earlier than them and, accordingly, straighten up earlier, standing on two legs.
Or, already in those distant times, there was a more advanced type of people who traveled from Africa to the places now occupied by Greece, as they say, by land - along the bottom of the dried-up Mediterranean Sea.

The remains of those who left behind were not found. Therefore, there is no exact answer to the question of who roamed there. This is a riddle. Even a fantastic version is not excluded that some space aliens soaked their feet in sea water for 5.7 million years. Surprisingly, only she would reconcile the find with the currently prevailing theories of human origin.
