Some skeptical scientists exclude the existence of aliens unequivocally, but there are those who continue to believe in the existence of foreign civilizations and look for life on other planets.

Director of the Byurakan Observatory Areg Mikaelyan, in an interview with Sputnik Armenia, said that at one time scientists tried to establish contact with aliens, and for this astronomers sent radio signals, trying to simultaneously catch feedback. However, these attempts were unsuccessful.

“It wasn't until the late 1980s that astronomers changed their strategy and started looking for planets around other stars. And now we call them exoplanets (outside the solar system). Today, scientists are most concerned with precisely this issue,”he said.

Scientists have already discovered 3,600 planets on which they are trying to find life, but this requires extremely sensitive devices and careful research. Scientists have so far managed to determine the composition of atmospheres, to find out where there is oxygen and water, which can provide potential conditions for life.

“Today there are planets that are very similar to the Earth, close in their parameters, perhaps there is life,” he said.

Mikaelyan considers flying saucers a myth. Often people mistake for UFOs unusual atmospheric phenomena or planets that leave a strange impression under certain lighting conditions. It even happened that a flock of birds was mistaken for a UFO.

“But I must admit that we cannot explain everything yet. In many cases, the nature of the phenomenon remains unclear,”Mikaelyan said.

As for life in the universe, there is almost no doubt about it, the astronomer said.

By the way, the fact that aliens are in many ways a figment of human imagination is proved by archaeologists, including Armenians. Scientists have discovered images of some mystical creatures on rock paintings in Armenia. Most likely, primitive man captured creatures unlike themselves, but scientists do not undertake to call them aliens.
