In 2017, in Antarctica, Russian scientists plan to test a new aerial installation designed to register and study cosmic rays.

This was announced by Dmitry Chernov, an employee of the Skobeltsyn Institute of Nuclear Physics, Moscow State University. As Chernov specified, this project has already been approved by the Russian Science Foundation.

He noted that the installation created in Russia has no analogues in the whole world. She will be able to register various types of rays that pass through the Earth's atmosphere. After launch, the installation will rise to an altitude of 30 km. Scientists plan to use the Russian Antarctic station Novolazarevskaya as a launching pad.

According to Chernov, thanks to the climatic features of Antarctica, the installation will be able to record and study particles that penetrate our planet from space. In addition, this installation will record the fluorescent glow of particles reflected from the snow-covered surface of Antarctica.

The results obtained will allow scientists to establish the nature of the origin and propagation of cosmic rays.
