It is known that ancient myths and legends of various peoples say that agriculture was given to people by "gods" (representatives of a certain highly developed civilization). At the same time, the "gods" not only taught people agricultural techniques and taught how to make the appropriate tools, but also provided them with "improved" varieties of plants. And not a single people attributed to themselves or their ancestors the merit of mastering agriculture with a single word! But these are myths, but is there any material confirmation for them?.. It turns out there is!

Modern science confirms that, firstly, different centers of ancient agriculture, directly associated with the emergence of the first human civilizations, appeared independently of each other. And secondly, the transition to cultivated plants took place in these foci almost simultaneously, and the first attempt at this happened about 13-15 thousand years ago - that is, even before the Flood! But the first crops did not sprout, or, perhaps, were washed away by the waters of the Flood … Traces indicate that before the Flood, agriculture for some reason was abandoned.

However, let's leave the Flood aside for now and go directly to the wheat. There were three established independent foci of its origin (about 10-12 thousand years ago): Syria and Palestine were the birthplace of "wild" wheat and single-grain wheat; Abyssinia (Ethiopia) - home to hard wheat; and the foothills of the Western Himalayas are the center of origin of soft wheat varieties.

In the process of further research, it was found that the difference between the types of wheat lies at the deepest level: wheat-single-grain has 14 chromosomes; "Wild" and durum wheat - 28 chromosomes; soft wheat has 42 chromosomes. However, even between "wild" wheat and hard varieties with the same number of chromosomes, there is a whole gap!

To achieve such a doubling and tripling of the number of chromosomes by conventional selection is, to put it mildly, very difficult. True, modern biologists have already learned how to achieve such a result, but to obtain it, it is necessary to use the so-called mutagens - chemical or radiation exposure, carried out at the genetic level!..

At the same time, the entire nature of the distribution of wheat varieties on the globe indicates that the difference between them existed already at the earliest stages of agriculture.

And here is the question: who at that distant Neolithic time from the farmers-people who possessed the most primitive tools (like hoes) could be engaged in the modification of wheat varieties at the genetic level and the breeding of "improved" varieties ?!
