The woman who lost hope of seeing was partially restored to sight. This was announced by Japanese molecular biologists at a meeting of the Association for the Study of Vision and Ophthalmology. They managed to give life to the retina of the eye from the modified skin cells.

Based on calculations, there are a lot of blind people in the world who need help. Scientists at one of the Japanese institutes are actively working on the invention of a recipe for revitalizing the retina, relying on the use of stem cells. The first tests of this idea were carried out on rodents.

The experiment showed a positive result, which gives confidence to move in this direction. Already in 2014, researchers were not afraid to conduct an experiment on humans. The same 70-year-old woman was subjected to a similar experience, who, thanks to the treatment, began to see the colors of the world around her. It is worth noting that the experiment was carried out a year and a half ago, but scientists reported the results only now. The researchers feared a negative outcome, but the fears were in vain, and thanks to their invention, many blind people will soon be able to see.
