La Pascualita or Little Pascuala is a wedding mannequin that has been “living” in a shop window in Chihuahua, Mexico for the past 75 years.
It's quite time consuming for a bridal shop mannequin, but the mannequin has a rather strange history. According to the city's legend, La Pascualita is the perfectly preserved corpse of the owner's daughter.
Over the years, La Pascualita's history has attracted a wide influx of visitors, including media professionals, from all over Mexico to Chihuahua. Currently, this store is visited by tourists from South America, the USA and Europe to see firsthand the "corpse" of the bride.
People gawking, poking their noses at the window display, looking at the mannequin and trying to figure out if the person in front of them is real or not. They see her mesmerizing gaze and realistic-looking features and facial expressions. Most people leave convinced that she is a real, once-lived person.
La Pascualita was first installed in a shop window on March 25, 1930, wearing a wedding dress. The effect was amazing. People, passers-by simply could not take their eyes off this mannequin, with widely spaced glass eyes, real hair and an almost natural skin tone. They soon realized that the mannequin resembled the owner of the current store, Pascuala Esparza. After a while, they came to the conclusion that the mannequin was in fact the embalmed body of her daughter, who had died quite recently, on her wedding day, after being bitten by the Black Widow spider.
Such a discovery could not leave indifferent local residents, and they began to express their disapproval. But by the time Pascuala issued an official statement denying the rumors, it was too late. Nobody wanted to believe this statement. The name of the owner's daughter faded into oblivion and was forgotten many years later, but the name "La Pascualita" has survived to this day.
Of course, the assumption of the presence of a corpse is naturally accompanied by all sorts of supernatural events, myths, magic. Several strange rumors have been recorded, but none of which have been confirmed. It was once said that a French wizard in love would come at night and magically bring the mannequin to life, taking her out of the city.

Some believe that her gaze shifts and follows them throughout the store. At night, she also changes her position near the window. These tales are terrifying. Perhaps most of all they appear thanks to the store employees who see Pascualita every day. The mannequin's clothes are changed twice a week behind closed curtains. Sonia Burciaga, a store employee says: “Every time I’m around Pascualita, I break out in a cold sweat. The mannequin's arms look very realistic and even has varicose veins on her legs. I think she is a real person. Could Pascualita really be a 75 year old corpse? I am terribly curious and would like to see and know this myself.
But while most Chihuahua locals are convinced that La Pacualita is actually a well-preserved corpse, the internet is full of explanations why this might not be true.
