Scientists from the UK were able to come to the conclusion that every sixth inhabitant of our planet can suffer from hallucinations. Experts say that not only a mentally ill person, but also a person who often experiences stress and anxiety cannot insure against such problems. It is these factors that can lead to hallucinations.
British researchers from the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland realized that mentally healthy individuals can also experience symptoms of hallucinations. One of the leaders of the study, Jan Kelleher, said that about 7 thousand subjects were invited for experiments.
While studying the reactions of the nervous system of a mentally healthy person to stress and anxiety, it became clear that hallucinations can be experienced by everyone, not just sick people. Thus, according to experimental data, scientists have concluded that every sixth inhabitant of our planet experiences hallucinations.
It is also worth recalling that the very concept of hallucination was published by French psychiatrist Jean-Etienne Eskirol. The types of hallucinations depend on what stimuli act on the human nervous system.
