By 2035, people will communicate with a "smart" refrigerator and eat synthetic food grown in test tubes, says Dmitry Ostroushko, one of the developers of the FoodNet roadmap created within the framework of the National Technology Initiative, the general director of the agricultural holding "Ramonskaya Turkey".

“By 2035, people will learn to consume food carefully and efficiently and will move from a standard set of 'junk' foods to synthetically modified ones grown in test tubes. Another nutritional option is a set of microelements that a person mixes in a glass and receives the optimal variant of proteins, fats and carbohydrates for him,”he said at a meeting of the OPENBIO Open Communications Platform in the Novosibirsk science city of Koltsovo.

In the latter case, sensors will be needed that signal the state of human health, the developer noted.

“However, by this time a person will simply be“stuffed”with all sorts of sensors. And in accordance with their readings, sets of such “food” will be made up of a “smart” refrigerator,”Ostroushko believes.

Innovative ways of eating do not exclude the use of traditional products, but the way of obtaining them will change significantly: for example, shops will replace “city farming”, when a person will receive food directly from the manufacturer by placing an order on the Internet. In addition, people will actively use inter-house spaces, growing vegetables on rooftops and raising fish in basements.

“We (the developers of the FoodNet roadmap) are often called dreamers, but at one time, the possibility of flying to the moon and the presence of cordless phones were considered fantasies. In addition, the basic principles of such nutrition and housekeeping have already been laid down, but these technologies are not yet given due attention,”Ostroushko stressed.

By 2035, experts estimate the FoodNet market at $ 7 trillion. “This is the direction where Russia can take a leading position,” the expert believes.

The National Technology Initiative is a set of measures aimed at creating conditions for the global technological leadership of the Russian Federation in new markets that will determine the development of the world and Russian economies in 13-20 years.

The key instruments in the implementation of STI should be "road maps", which are now being developed by project teams consisting of scientists,
