For 10 years, French journalist Jacques Herzik has been collecting materials for his book entitled "Statues of the killer, mannequins-rapists, doll-maniacs", published in the late 90s. It included the freshest at that time tales or urban legends about "revived" statues, monuments and other copies of human bodies. Below are the bloodiest of these stories.
Killer spacesuit
At the 1993 festival of avant-garde art, an ordinary spacesuit exhibited by French artists for deep-sea diving and installation work under water, for no reason at all, came to life and "went mad".

The guards who came running in response to Helga's scream did not find anything at the scene except scorched walls with many holes left by a drill. And the deep-sea suit took its former place among other works of art.
A few days later, in one of the exhibition rooms, they found arms, legs, brain debris, nose, ears, pieces of meat scattered at a considerable distance from each other. They belonged to one of the consultants, a student of the art history faculty.

The walls, paintings, the floor and even the five-meter-high ceiling were thickly covered with blood stains, and not far from where the spacesuit stood, the word "Revenge" was ominously crimson on the seat of a chair. The skull of a young man, collected in the laboratory, was perforated in four places with a drill.
Two French authors, the authors of the work, stated that they did not equip their object with any additional details, but simply exhibited the exotic object as “a symbol of the inner emptiness of modern man and the pressure on him by the environment,” which, incidentally, was confirmed by the study of the exhibit.
Dummy rapist
The fashionable Parisian boutique has become even more famous thanks to one of the mannequins commissioned by its owner to showcase avant-garde menswear. The shop assistants immediately called their new "colleague" Etienne. They were attracted by his stylish bright green face and too human, despite the unnatural golden color, eyes.
Subsequently, the girls said that, dressing and undressing Etienne, they noticed something like an erection in him, although the mannequin did not have any sexual organ.
It's just that his plastic body seemed to flutter with excitement, causing endless jokes and ridicule, until one of the girls, 18-year-old Natalie, came to the nearest police station and announced that she had just been raped.

Although the mannequin did not have "primary sexual characteristics", it was decided to burn it just in case. The entire staff of the boutique came to the execution, which took place at the city dump in the presence of police officers. According to eyewitnesses, Etienne writhed in the fire as if alive, and although no one heard a sound from him, the face of the blazing and melting sadist expressed the most severe torment.
Bloodthirsty Venus
In the summer of 1998, an elusive serial killer appeared in one of the remote regions of Italy, at intervals of two weeks, sending eight men with exactly the same characteristics to the next world. They were all tall, foreigners and blond with Scandinavian features. Each of them found dark marks on their throats, clearly not from human hands.
The maniac was never caught, and soon the murders stopped. The detectives were most puzzled by the fact that next to the body of the last of the victims lay a marble statue of ancient Venus, which had been stolen from the park near the villa of one of the local businessmen, which had been smashed into pieces in a construction pit, which had been stolen from a park near the villa of one of the local businessmen.

As he suspected, the statue disappeared from the park, and decided to undertake his own investigation. He hunted the marble assassin for days on end, until his efforts were crowned with success. After her next crime, an ice ax previously stored by a young man fell on the goddess's head.
Being an emotional person, the artist considered himself to be responsible for the death of many people whom the goddess, as he was convinced, took for him. His soul could not bear the remorse, and he considered that the best way out for him would be to die.
Sharp wooden cowboy
In front of the entrance to one of the Texas drinking establishments, there has long been a figure of a cowboy with a lasso and a revolver in his belt, carved from a log and pasted over with multi-colored foil, inviting everyone to go to the "saloon" and have a glass.
At least ten people claimed to have seen how, during a national holiday, a cowboy, without moving, opened fire on a group of tourists who had arrived at the celebration and, in addition, shot two schoolchildren who did not have time to lie on the ground.
It is clear that the culprit was not found among the people, and the witnesses were not believed. But since then, curious people from all over America regularly come to the institution to look at the cowboy.
Jacques Herzik warns that "it is not uncommon for unkind and criminal souls to enter the bodies of statues." In addition, followers of the voodoo cult believe that all dolls created by human hands obey their secret queen, who has unlimited power over them. Their powerful mistress was allegedly once sculptured from marble by a brilliant sculptor who managed to revive his creation.
