Virtual archaeologists believe that both objects were erected by aliens
The Martian dome was discovered by virtual archaeologist William Benton while “exploring” Mars using Google Earth / Mars. As reported on his Facebook page. And posted the corresponding images.
The object is visible in the image from the orbit of the Red Planet, located between the Mawrth Vallis region and the Oyama crater, which, in turn, are located in the equatorial region of Mars. A dome in the form of a hemisphere sticks out of a small crater, which now bears the name of the discoverer of the object in it. Now it is Benton's crater - the virtual archaeologist's colleagues have thus immortalized his name.
Virtual archaeologist finds dome using Google Earth / Mars
According to Benton's estimates, the dome is about 15 meters in diameter. Most likely this is some kind of natural formation. However, another hypothesis is popular among virtual archaeologists - the dome was erected by aliens. Perhaps there is an antenna inside. Or the dome covers the entrance to some underground structures.
Interestingly, there is a dome, surprisingly similar to the Martian one, on Phobos, a small satellite of Mars. It was discovered back in 1998 by Efrain Palermo and Len Fleming in images (SPS252603 and SPS252603) transmitted by the Mars Global Surveyor probe. They named the object "Monolith", which naturally evoked an association with aliens.
The monolith on Phobos is larger than the Martian one - its height is about 76 meters.
NASA photographed the area of the mysterious object several times. But it did not provide clear images. On those that are available, it looks vague.

The legendary astronaut Edwin (Buzz) Aldrin, the man who was the second to set foot on the lunar surface back in 1969, regularly draws attention to the strange object on Phobos. According to him, everyone who has seen the photo of the monolith has no doubt that it was put there.
A snapshot in which the monolith was first discovered
One monolith looked strange, and two - similar to each other - even more so. Together, they further heighten suspicions of alien activity on and around Mars.
The monolith is larger. Buzz Aldrin did not directly say, but hinted that the object was placed on Phobos by aliens.
