Looking into the bottomless night sky filled with millions and billions of stars, we often think about the question: do intelligent beings like us live elsewhere in the Universe? This cannot be ruled out, just as the likelihood that we are not the only ones on our home planet cannot be ruled out. Indeed, in the works of science fiction writers, and in the myths and legends of the peoples of the whole world, one can often find the image of mysterious thinking creatures that live … deep underground.

High-tech troglotids

In December 1943 in the American entertainment magazine Amazing stories - "Amazing stories" - there was a strange material in which a hitherto unknown welder Richard Shaver narrated about the allegedly existing underground troglotid civilization, genetically degraded, but technically advanced. High

the technologies of antiquity gave these creatures an amazing power over the inhabitants of the supermundane world, who do not even suspect anything like that. Troglotids use telepathy, holography, electromagnetic weapons, lasers and fly on silent disks that are hidden in underground hangars.

According to Shaver, this world is inhabited by two originally united races: dero - bad robots, and tero - good, integral-energy robots. As the welder transformed into a writer asserted, the troglotids (probably bad, not good) not only made contact with him, but also tortured him with their rays. Readers have reacted differently to this post. Some considered her a vivid example of paranoid-schizophrenic obsessions, ridiculed the author and his underworld, reviled Shaver in every possible way. Others, on the other hand, sent letters with words of support and approval, and even talked about similar nightmarish cases that happened to them.

I must say that Shaver's creation was far from the first work in the history of world science fiction about underground inhabitants. Back in the late 19th century, the famous English writer Edward George Bulwer-Lytton created his "Coming Race". This novel told how a certain mining engineer got into an underground passage, which led him into the world of huge caves unknown to mankind, where a race of people lived, very developed both physically and mentally. They knew nothing about those who live on the surface of the Earth. At the disposal of the underground inhabitants was a special miraculous power - the energy of Vril, controlled by means of telepathic methods. The writer himself says about this energy: “Whoever wants to use Vril should be in control of himself to the highest degree, he should have a kind heart, full of humanity, for in the hands of an egoistic and unbalanced person, this force can bring great misfortune."

Maharajah on a white elephant

Legends about the inhabitants of the dungeons, as already mentioned, exist among almost all peoples of our planet. Western Europeans believed that elves lived underground, the Russians believed that a miracle had gone into the Earth, the Polynesians believed in underground dwarfs - Menechuns. In Homer's Iliad, the blacksmith god Hephaestus forged a shield for the hero Achilles in his gigantic smithy located in the crater of Mount Etna. But the most curious stories are probably still connected with the giant underground country of Agartta and its citadel - Shambhala, which belonged to the ancestors of mankind. The entrances and exits to it supposedly can be found in the Himalayas, in Tibet and in the Gobi desert. Many famous writers, philosophers, esotericists wrote about this hypothetical country: Ferdinand Ossendovsky, Saint-Yves d'Alveidre, Rene Guénon, Frida Vion, Nicholas Roerich. For example, what Sect - Yves d'Alveidre thought about all these miracles: “On the surface and inside the Earth, the real space of Agartta resisted oppression and coercion emanating from violence and outrage. The libraries of the previous cycle were either under the seas that swallowed up the ancient southern continent, or in the underground structures of ancient antediluvian America.

Agartta and its part - Shambhala, according to some ideas of occultists - is the abode of the King of the World.

One mysterious, but completely real story is known: In 1937, the coronation of George VI of England as Emperor of India was celebrated in Delhi. At the end of the ceremony, all the Rajas and Maharajas took turns driving past the newly-made emperor in their most luxurious carriages to emphasize their loyalty to the British ruler. The parade was already ending when, to everyone's surprise, a huge snow-white elephant appeared on the square, on which a man dressed all in white sat. The stranger seemed the very epitome of grandeur.

There was absolute silence. Before the royal rostrum, the mysterious ruler did not bow, but made a blessing gesture. "Who is this Maharajah that no one knows?" the emperor asked. “This is the King of the World,” he heard one of the top Indian officials reply.

American esotericist and traveler Baird Spaulding, who knows Central Asia very well, in his book "The Lives of Masters" told how between the two world wars a whole Chinese army was sent to explore a certain territory in the Gobi Desert in order to find a mysterious country. The army circled day after day in one place, as if the minds of the Chinese soldiers were clouded by the action of some psychotronic generators. In the end, the military never found anything.

And Nicholas Roerich collected a lot of evidence of the existence of mysterious lost valleys high in the Tien Shan and Kun-Lun mountains, serving as takeoff and landing sites for UFOs.

Nuclear explosion in the Gobi desert

But are the inhabitants of a high-tech underground civilization always kindly disposed towards the above-ground inhabitants? After all, there is evidence that in 1970, in the same Gobi Desert, it came to hostilities with the use of nuclear weapons. In April of that year, over the border

UFOs flew in flocks across the desert. They were observed by both Chinese and Soviet air defense forces. On April 24, the situation escalated to the limit. On that day, a Soviet strategic bomber, flying from Moscow to Vladivostok, disappeared. Up to 200 aircraft were thrown in search of him, but no traces of the bomber could be found.

But when the military reconstructed the trajectories of UFO flights, it turned out that they all flew from an area located in the Gobi Desert, about a thousand kilometers northeast of Ulan Bator. Three Soviet and one Chinese divisions were sent there under the pretext of conducting exercises. Even before their approach, the area was bombed by hundreds of aircraft. The Soviet side even used an atomic bomb. To the West, through Hong Kong, information leaked about the destruction of a large underground military base with many kilometers of tunnels and about battles in which hundreds of soldiers were lost. At the same time, it occurred to many then: whose base is this, strictly speaking, if the USSR and the PRC, which were then in far from the best relations, decided to act together?

Entrances to other planets?

Western ufologists believe that there is undoubtedly a connection between the exits from Agartta-Shambhala in the Gobi desert and the aliens visiting our world. Here we can mention the American of Polish origin George Adamski (one of the most famous contactees with UFOs), who created the Royal Order of Tibet and the conspiratorial "Group of Silence". A certain domestic enthusiast echoes Atsamski: "From Agartta, as from an alien reality, one can easily reach a point on the surface of any even the most distant planet."

In connection with all this, the question sometimes arises: what if all these conversations are being conducted for a reason and in uninhabited areas of the Earth there really are vast underground voids in which some ancient civilization of terrestrial origin lives, which has achieved colossal technological success, including having connections with other planets? This civilization, depending on its own needs, tries to influence earthly affairs - sometimes beneficially, sometimes negatively. In this case, it turns out that on our home planet we have restless, intelligent neighbors, who have surpassed earthlings in many ways, but for some reason are in dire need of them and even treat them as some kind of smaller brothers?..
