A series of epic fantasy novels "A Song of Ice and Fire", begun by American writer George Martin back in 1991, formed the basis of the script for the most popular television series "Game of Thrones" today. Millions of spectators from dozens of countries follow the fate of the main characters with bated breath. But even those who read the original source before watching do not know what will happen to the characters next. After all, the last book of the series was published already in 2011, and the sixth volume, entitled "Winds of Winter", will not be released earlier than 2018. Programmer Zak Tutt got tired of waiting for a leisurely writer, so he created a neural network that independently wrote five chapters of the new volume "Songs of Ice and Fire" for George Martin.
According to Martin, the sixth book should tell readers about the events from the perspective of such characters as Sansa and Arya Stark, Arianna Mortell, Aieron Greyjoy, Theon Greyjoy, Victarion Greyjoy, Tyrion Lannister and Barristan Selmy. The LSTM Neural Network, written by Zach Tutt, has carefully studied the previous five volumes, which include 5376 pages of text. Each chapter of the new book begins with the name of the character, which was set by the programmer, and otherwise the neural network did not limit itself in anything. All five chapters written by her can be read by anyone on the GitHub portal.
Zack himself told reporters that he really wanted to keep the storytelling style characteristic of George Martin - from the third person point of view from the point of view of one of the characters. Today, the neural network is quite young and inexperienced, so it sometimes makes spelling mistakes and sometimes chooses not the best phrases. But, despite this, based on previous books, she made some very unexpected predictions. This is not exactly a spoiler, since all this is just a guess by the machine, but just in case, you better not read further, otherwise you never know. SPOILERS !!! For example, that Jaime Lannister will kill his sister Cersei, Jon Snow will saddle the dragon, and the advisor Varys will kill Daenerys Targaryen. All of these theories have been debated by the book and TV fan community on numerous occasions, but none of them have any evidence. We will see,whether the machine managed to predict the further development of events in this story.
