The scientist will be involved in a project to find contacts with extraterrestrial civilizations, which will be funded by Russian billionaire Yuri Milner.
According to the scientist, contact with aliens can be dangerous, because for thousands and millions of light years while the signal is going on, the senders themselves can change a lot and it is not known in which direction.
“The history of weak, contacting civilizations with more advanced ones will not be happy,” Bailey said.

As Milner himself said, the ideologist of the project is the famous physicist Stephen Hawking. Agreements have already been signed with the operators of the world's two largest radio telescopes (Green Bank Telescope in West Virginia (USA) and Parkes Telescope in Australia), as well as with the Lick Observatory optical telescope in California to lease them for "a significant part" of the time for space observations.
