Scientists from the United States and Great Britain, in the course of a joint study, conducted a phylogenetic analysis of the development of those dinosaurs that science knows today, as well as the first birds and birds that exist today.
Experts compared the findings and morphology of the first dinosaurs that appeared on Earth, and deduced the average time required for morphological changes in the skeletons of these animals, starting from which it was possible to obtain the date of birth of the first dinosaurs.
As for the first birds, they have also aged somewhat. If earlier it was believed that the first birds appeared on Earth 150 million years ago, now this period has shifted and is 160 million. However, then they looked little like the birds that we are used to seeing. The birds acquired their modern appearance 70 or 80 million years ago, just before the end of an era when dinosaurs dominated the planet.
Specialists, thanks to new research, will be able to better understand why it was dinosaurs that dominated the planet for millions of years. And only after their death, mammals took the dominant position.
