According to a study carried out by a group of scientists from the University of Westminster, the lifestyle of a modern person can change in the most radical way already within this century. By 2116, super-skyscrapers, underwater cities and downloadable food will be commonplace.

Scientists from the University of Westminster in the UK have published a study according to which humanity could make a significant technological breakthrough during this century.

Futurologists and architects as part of the group that prepared the report believe that in just a hundred years, humanity will begin to use negative skyscrapers that will go 25 floors underground, according to the British newspaper The Independent.

Scientists also predict the emergence of technologies for rapid construction in conditions of increased pressure, which will allow people to settle in special settlements under water, and the development of the drone industry will make them the main mode of personal transport and delivery of goods.

Researchers do not consider such predictions too far-reaching.

“Our lifestyle today would seem like a fantasy to a person who lived a hundred years ago. The Internet has revolutionized the essence of our communication, learning and interaction with the world,”the newspaper quotes one of the authors of the study, Dr. Maggie Aderin.

The report also suggests widespread adoption of 3D printers, and an increase in the variety and scale of their applications.

By 2116, they will be able to make not only furniture, but entire houses and structures, the report says.

3D printed food preparation, already partially available today, is also evolving to allow food to be “downloaded” over the Internet and materialized using a home printer.

In addition to changing living conditions on Earth, advances in technology and commercial space travel will inevitably lead to the colonization of the Moon and Mars, the report concludes.
